Ordered a pile of random vegan shite out of curiosity, let’s review each as I try them. This one? 54g of protein, mixture of soy and wheat, so presumably complete from an EEA perspective, fried it up with some soy, it’s like eating soft rubber with soy on it, 4/10
EAA*
A crossover, i thought these would be shit as I cooked them, but actually the texture was quite pleasing and worked well with the sourdough buns and roast peri peri cauliflower, 8/10
Making a spag bog, so need some of this, again great stuff, 60g of this is 12g of protein before I even add the fake beef mince, crisps up really nicely in the pan and has a texture a bit like lean back bacon, a solid 8/10, would enjoy in a butty with brown sauce.
Also for the spag bog then, 85g of protein in this box, spag bog is ready and tastes pretty great, it’s got a reasonable texture (not just total slop) so I’m gonna give this one a 7/10, it’s far better than a lot of fake minces I’ve had over the years (see also: quorn)
Making a new order for more protein based on the more successful ratings here, I find messaging like this is unhelpful - if you’re looking for meat eaters to go vegan unless your steaks get a *lot* better then this is just patronising and incorrect bullshit
Dear @thevegankind supermarket, vegan steaks are actually kinda shit when compared to the real deal, flavour, texture, caramelisation of animal fat - you ain’t gonna win people over by lying to them haha.
Chilli and garlic Seitan Sausage, Oh okay, this one is actually great, I’ve chopped it up and thrown it in a stir fry, this one is like a Chorizo once it’s all fried up, slightly softer and less resistance than real meat but tasty in its own right, 8/10
Oh god not another one of these “no beef steak”, looking the ingredients it’s a little more involved than the usual mix of just Seitan or tempeh, it’s got chickpeas - so some of my judgement will come down to whether I can digest it or not over the day, 9/10 for eating tho
