some analysis & appreciation of jennie & lisa's personal photography and the difference between their artistic eyes; a thread 📸
jennie's photos tend to have a playful, witty message behind them, whether in the subject or the way she captures them. ex. 1) young & old couples side by side 2) a different point of view 3) jisoo & a little boy
jennie captures quiet moments/details that would normally go unnoticed.
lisa's photos tend to be visually dramatic, capturing dramatic lighting and using perspective to accentuate scale and create tension.
lisa's photos make even ordinary scenes feel cinematic
i think you can see a difference in their artistic eyes here, both nice photos w/ different compositions but similar subjects. lisa's (1) focuses on the scenery & lighting, whereas jennie's (2) captures a more pedestrian view - you get a sense of the people who live there
lisa's portraits are my favorite shots of her's. contrary to her grandiose scenic shots, her portraits of people feel intimate - like we're peering through a keyhole into their soul
jennie seems to have an affinity for capturing the colors and textures of the places she visits. i love how often times within the details she captures are little insights into the locals who live there
lisa & jennie's artistic eyes are as different as they are as people. the point isn't to judge which is better, but to appreciate the differences in what they share with us. to appreciate lisa's sweeping lightscapes & portraits as well as jennie's insights into people & places
of course they take a lot of similar photos as well with similar compositions and i didn't post every photo they've ever taken, obviously, but i chose ones based on how they spoke to me or patterns i saw in their subjects/composition. (L, J)
i'm not a photographer, though i have an art degree, so by no means an expert but i just wanted to give a little appreciation for their photography by sharing my observations. hope someone found something here interesting or maybe got a new perspective 👋📸
