Imagine thinking Henry Ruggs was better than Jerry Jeudy when Tua Tagovailoa and Nick Saban thought he wasn't even the second-best receiver on the team
Ruggs had only 70 more receiving yards than Alabama's WR4... on 1.6x(!) as many routes

and over 1,000 yards less than Jerry Jeudy

But Ruggs is better because he can run 40 yards in a straight line 4% quicker
It's weird Ruggs is constantly talked up as this elite deep threat, when,,,

Over the past two seasons (per PFF), Tua Tagovailoa completed 49 deep passes.

- 15 went to Jerry Jeudy
- 12 went to Devonta Smith
- 9 went to Jaylen Waddle
- 6 went to Henry Ruggs
- 5 went to Irv Smith
Maybe you can point to per-target efficiency. Maybe

But that's bad process. Because a target in itself is a positive indicator of talent. A WR earns a target because he's open, or due to trust, or some other sign that suggests he's good

targets per route > yards per target
