Suppose you were just hearing about God for the first time. You were open-minded about the whole thing and the person who told you of Him added:
“He has a book!”
Which really isn’t a book though, but a combination of books (a library of sort), and now you’re more excited.

You think, “Oh wow! I can’t imagine what He’d have to say; surely such God so great will have a lot of speakings in the book, he’d probably call everyone who ever lived by name and give personal situational instructions in the book, since He knows everything”,
you can’t wait.
you can’t wait.
“I’d probably wait four days and open it, since my life is about to change forever”,
you think it’s best you enjoy the wait and hype the expectations.
“Every answer I have ever needed is in there already plainly written out” and you’re preparing, ready to be blown away.

Four days seem like Four years, a billion scenarios have filled your head. “God has a book surely it will be filled with Him talking about Himself, the world, me & life, everything in the plainest terms” and now, it’s time to read as the day has finally come.
You open the Book, a Bible and you see...stories.
Stories of the origin of the world, stories of individuals, families, people

Some X-rated, R-rated things going on in what you expected to be “God talking to me”.
And as you gradually approach the back of the book...

The stories move from being about people living their own normal lives, to being about one Man: four different books telling His stories, then few stories about the people of this Man follows. Before the rest seems to be explanations about the things that happened before...
But even at that, we see human people dealing with each other having experiences; some getting it right and some others getting it wrong in a book that was supposed to be God’s Book, to tell me about life.
Why is the Bible, the “Word of God” filled with so much stories.
Why is the Bible, the “Word of God” filled with so much stories.
“I have read books by humans for humans full of rules, shouldn’t a book by a god to humans be far more instructional than these...if God wanted to tell us something, why would it be narrations of what’s been happening in the world?”.

Until it is made clear to you:
God is more interested in guiding you through life than merely just talking about it.
The story of God is hidden in His dealings with us from the beginning of time; in our ups and downs, man’s flaws & successes, His word & works are present.

Every question you have is answered not merely by an instruction about life but in His being with you through life itself.
And as you read a story His Spirit, not the text itself, but by it shows you how you ought to approach your own story in view of what God knows & sees.

Being guided by what God had seen in the experiences of others before, you’re given a conviction so strong about your own self in the God of the stories; that He is similarly involved in yours if you trust Him as they did.
The Bible is more than eyewitness accounts but reflections of believers.
And the message of God often stated through the prophets, reflected in their stories; most importantly revealed in the one man, Jesus; explained by the apostles, is expressed in your own life, also a story.
