I decided to make a thread about Lindsay Lohan’s third studio album “Spirit in The Dark” because if we are gonna get new music soon, first we need to truly appreciate the master piece that this record could’ve been
The album was originally scheduled to be released in late 2008 and it was rumored to include tracks by the Neptunes' Pharrell Williams, Akon, Stargate, Bloodshy & Avant, Timbaland and Tricky Stewart & The-Dream.
At the time Lindsay called it a “dance, hip-hop and R&B album” but later that year she said that work on the album had stalled and that she wanted to avoid the stress of working on movies and music at the same time, so the project was assumed to have been shelved.
However a couple years later some demo tracks, supposedly intended for the record, were leaked and so now we are able to listen to some of the songs even though they have never been officially released
1. Bossy

“Bossy”, an electropop and dance-pop song, produced by Ne-Yo, about a woman being strong enough to get what she wants when she wants it, was meant to serve as the lead single from the album.
After leaking online in the beginning of May 2008, Universal Motown officially released the song to media outlets. It managed to peak at number 77 on the Canadian Hot 100, and became Lohan's first song to reach number one on the United States' Billboard Hot Dance Club Play.
2. Stuck

Lindsay posted a full version of Stuck on the internet after a snippet was leaked by a mystery source in March 2010. She wrote on Twitter: “I still wonder who leaked part of ‘Stuck’.”
3. Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop

After the leak in May 2010, Lindsay tweeted: “So i’ve decided to do a music video rather than let my tracks just go to waste … need some time to choose a director and such in regards to ‘can’t stop’.” But it actually never happened.
4. I Wanna Be Bad

It was leaked on Youtube only a few days after the previous leak hinting the possibility of a real music comeback. Page Six defined the song like something that comes “from a dirty Disney movie”.
5. Too Young To Die (feat. Lolene)

It leaked online in July 2010, after Lindsay was sentenced to three consecutive 30-day terms and both for that reason and for the deep lyrics it was considered her autobiographical “pre-prison” single.
Although most sites on internet say that this song features Britney Spears, it’s actually co-writer Lolene who is featured alongside Lindsay in this demo, and produced by J.R. Rotem (who has produced hits like Sean Kingston’s “Beautiful Girls” and Rihanna’s “S.O.S”).
6. Stay

It leaked in October 2010 and it’s the third and last ballad of the unreleased album.
7. Walka Not A Talka (feat. Snoop Dogg)

It leaked online in October 2010, 3 years after an official version was released by Mya. Both Lindsay & Mya were at the same label when an A&R gave the song to Lindsay to record as a reference track. (Snoop even mentions Mya in his rap.)
Although Snoop’s verse was seemingly not recorded for Lindsay’s version of this song, it was reported in 2008 they had indeed been working together on material for her album.
8. Refill

Lindsay Lohan previewed this Darkchild-produced track in early 2010 during a few parties in LA where she was the guest DJ. Lindsay’s version of this song has never leaked, we only have this demo version sung by Matisse.
9. Playground (?)

This song was rumored to be an official single featuring Pharrell Williams, but it was never confirmed and these weird lyrics are the only thing we have about it.
Since these are the only songs that we have, here are some “references” to Spirit in the Dark that we got over the past decade.
In the program “Alan Carr Chatty Man”, during Lindsay’s entrance, they played “I Wanna be Bad”
Lindsay performed her unreleased song “Refill” at the Perez Hilton’s birthday in 2010
This was the setlist that night, so apparently she performed (or perhaps just played) also “I Wanna Be Bad” and another unreleased song called “Let It Be Me” that never leaked unlike the others.
In an interview with Billboard, Ne-Yo revealed that he was approached by the label to write a song for Lindsay: "I gotta admit, we were like: Lindsay Lohan?' I mean, I've written for Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Celine Dion and ... Lindsay Lohan? -
- But I’ll say this; we gave her a quality record and she did a ridiculously fabulous job. I was so shocked I had to call her and apologize for what I was thinking because she did so good. I think the world is gonna be surprised."
These are a few interviews where Lindsay talked about her third album
In 2013 “Walka Not a Talka” was added to the songs list of the app game @JustSingIt
And Snoop Dogg even tweeted about it https://twitter.com/snoopdogg/status/413398264609009664?s=21 https://twitter.com/SnoopDogg/status/413398264609009664
In 2019, “Bossy” was used as the opening song on Lindsay's MTV reality television series Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club.
In 2019 during an interview with Andy Cohen, Lindsay said that her favorite “Lindsay Lohan’s song” is the unreleased track “Walka Not a Talka”
Last year Lindsay revealed that it was her the one who leaked Bossy (and probably even all the other songs)
