1) A new chapter begins: After a decade in the Danish Foreign Ministry, I got an offer I couldn’t refuse: I’m starting next month as Chief of Staff to Microsoft’s Vice President for European Government Affairs, working out of Brussels.
2) I’m grateful for 10+ years in the MFA, including at the embassy in Washington DC as well as in Copenhagen, working on i.e. transatlantic relations, security policy, the Middle East, Afghanistan, Africa, climate change and more.
3) I will highlight one thing, though, as the single most inspiring and important task I have been involved in:
4) As one of the founding farthers of TechPlomacy, it has been fascinating to be part of the ride to elevate the transformational and geopolitical implications of technology to a foreign policy priority and promote this agenda globally.
5) Working day and night with colleagues to make this foreign policy experiment a succes. That wasn’t a given. We had nothing or nobody to copy-paste from. It required courage, creativity, hard work - and stamina to tackle the challenges and resistance along the way.
6) It has been a team effort and I feel both humble and proud of what we’ve achieved. Kudos to everyone who has been involved and supportive along the way.
7) Also a shoutout to my former & future boss @KlyngeC for his inspiring, ambitious and tireless leadership, without which TechPlomacy wouldn’t have become nothing close to what it is. It was a no-brainer to accept his offer to, once again, become his ‘partner in crime’.
8) This time on the other side of the table. In an ambitious organisation, where the interplay btwn tech, global affairs & foreign policy is topping the agenda & where public/private coop 2 strike balances btwn (digital) possibilities and challenges of our time is front & center.
9) A company that acknowledges the importance of societal responsibility in order to protect and promote our values and democratic institutions. A lot is at stake. Can’t wait!

See you on the other side. Peace out.
