Pakistani Hindu Population Myth:

You all must have seen such tweets from Indians where they question the population of Hindus in Pakistan:

"In 1947 Pakistani Hindu population was 23%. why is it now 2% only"
2/
On Jan 2015, a BJP spokesperson said on T.V interview, "When Pakistan was created the Hindu population was 24%. But now they are less than 1%, what happened to them?"

Funny that all come up with different numbers. 1%, 2%, less than 1%.
3/
+and some even think that there is no Hindu remaining in Pakistan.

Contrary to the sensational tweets and media headlines about declining of Pakistani Hindu population, the fact is that the Hindu community is growing at a faster rate.
4/Actually, it was both East PAKand West PAKin 1947 that made Hindu population 24%, with the majority of them living in the eastern part. With the secession of East PAK the Hindu population would obviously drop since the east would no longer be a part of PAK's population census.
5/+COMMON SENSE.
The partition caused a large demographic change in the Indian sub-continent region, where the Hindu population in Pakistan fell dramatically rather than systematically from 14% in 1941 to just ~(1.3% -1.5%) in 1951.
6/
After that, it showed a steadily increase in every Pakistan's census, contributing 1.4% in 1961, 1.5% in 1981 and ~1.6% in 1998. Right now the population is around 4 million.
7/
While on the eastern part of Pakistan (now Bangladesh), just after partition Hindus population dropped to 24% from 28.4%. Between the years 1951 to 1961, it fell significantly to 18.4%. Ironically after the secession of East Pakistan and with the creation of Bangladesh,
8/
+there Hindu population in Bangladesh declined systematically in every census.
9/
Furthermore, according to Pew Research Center, in 2010 Pakistan had 5th largest Hindu population in the world with 3.33 million people. And it is growing at a faster rate than India and Nepal. And by 2050, after surpassing Indonesia, Pakistan will make its place to 4th.
10/End/

It is also true that Pakistani Hindus have been targeted and discriminated on various stages by certain groups of people but the remark that "Hindu population jumped from 23% to 1%" is nothing but a myth.
