As I’ve been saying. Levy has tried to deflect blame and appease fans by putting a serial winner in charge. We all know Levy threw Poch under the bus. And it wasn’t by sacking him. It was by not supporting him a few years ago when he needed team investment.
Year after year Levy has sacrificed potential success over the balance sheet. What we’re seeing now is a team that’s over the hill and needing a complete overhaul. The “painful rebuild”. And in the end Poch couldn’t fight anymore and lost interest, which led to sacking.
That we didn’t win anything under Poch is a major traversty. We were playing wonderful football. The year we were undefeated at the Lane was incredible and even Wembley Poch turned into a fortress to some extent. We were certainly more difficult to beat there than the new ground!
This is why I’m not jumping on Mourinho’s back yet. Let’s see what happens in the summer and let’s see where we are in Jan 2021. Poch raised our expectations. Levy didn’t back him and here we are. Starting again from a position of mediocrity.
