I want to tell you a story about a woman named Sara. Sara was a licensed clinical social worker who lived in Brooklyn, supported Bernie Sanders in 2016 but was a fan of Elizabeth Warren, and tweeted a LOT. 1/
When Warren endorsed Hillary in 2016, Sara posted a photo of herself burning a “Warren” t-shirt. She *insisted* Bernie would be the nominee well after Hillary had earned a majority of pledged delegates, after Bernie had ENDORSED Hillary, and all the way up to the convention. 2/
I occasionally argued with Sara on twitter (respectfully) that she should listen to Bernie & support the nominee, but to no avail. She hated Hillary so much that after the convention, she chose to support Jill Stein. She spent the summer begging people not to vote for Hillary. 3/
Sara made me really mad. And, it turns out… that’s exactly what she was designed to do. Because, I found out months later, “Sara” was posting her tweets from inside a big building in Moscow. She was a Russian bot, and I’d totally fallen for it. 4/
Take a breath, wash your hands, and don’t believe everyrthing you see on twitter. /END
