Shoujo kageki revue starlight. A very enjoyable show, but not without it's flaws.

Animated by Kinema Citrus (creators of Made in abyss & shield hero), the child of production I.G and Bones, and directed by Symphogear staff Tomohiro Furukawa, it's a pretty interesting project.
The premise:

A bunch of girls are in a performing arts school, and there's an underground audition run by a talking giraffe that the girl who passes the audition the status of "top star, the eternal leading lady" whatever that means. The auditions are fights by the way.
Yes. A talking giraffe.

that's not really explained just run with it.
It's got quite a few similarities to symphogear:

Cute girls fighting while singing that attend a school related to the arts.

Strong yuri overtones.

Some funny moments tossed in.
Let's talk about the show's flaws first:

Plot: It's a bit disconnected at times. The story itself is fine, but a certain twist doesn't really have a super satisfying conclusion and is resolved in the next episode, and...
The lack of explanation about the nature of things leads to a climax that doesn't quite make much sense. I'm all for leaving things ambiguous, but when that much isn't explained, things start to feel like an ass pull. Also, again, not much is explained.
Characters: Many of the characters are kind of one note. With some of the motifs of the show, it appears to be intentional... but it's still something to note.

It should be noted that there's a sequel movie announced, so it may address some of these issues.
Strengths:

Action is pretty good. @Nine0uh90 would enjoy the use of geography in the fights.
Sound track is nice.
I'm a fan of the direction and shot composition.
(Do note that not all the fight scenes look the way this one does. there's a pretty good variety)
The show really does have some nice shots in it. Take a look at this call back shot.
Overall, It's a great show.

It's pretty, entertaining, and definitely one of the more unique shows to come out in the past few years. I'd make a cheesy spotlight pun here but I like to think I'm better than that.
