My mom is a 70-year old former Panther who home schooled her children because she “didn’t believe they could be fully realized humans in the presence of whiteness.”

She lives in Moncks Corner, SC
My aunt is 74. She literally started the government agency that preserves Black History in SC. Your state probably uses her preservation curriculum, too

Last year, she won awards from around the country for creating a digital version of the Green Book

She lives in Hartsville SC
My other aunt has quite literally worked in the SC legislature all my life.
She and my uncle took me into their home when I got my first post-college job at Benedict College in SC
My sister is in her 40s. She’s an HBCU graduate with an advanced degree in mathematics. She spends TOO MUCH time and money with her “math mentoring” program pairing black kids with people who actually work in STEM.

She lives in Columbia.
In the 1980s, another one of my aunts was one of the first black women designers at the biggest black fashion labels (WilliWear—you gotta be old to remember that shit)

One day she said “fuck it” and left NY because she wanted to start her own restauraunt. She has 3 now.
She gathered her sisters (who all love to cook) and they pooled their money.

Before they retired and sold them, they had THREE restaurants in SC.
My other sisters is in her 40s. When she was in high school, we went on a church trip to Charleston. She loved it so much that she said: “I’m gonna live there”

She went to College of Charleston, married a Charleston dude, raised 4 kids and works as Dir. of Financial Aid.
Here’s the point.

I know those “old black voters” in SC.

They’re smarter, more informed and more progressive than any of these motherfuckers denigrating black southern voters talking about “revolution”

None of them are on Twitter.
