I mentioned my son’s autism in my Royce review not just because I didn’t like the anti-vax bars, but also because I’m proud of him & want to raise awareness. He has his struggles, but when it comes to numbers, shapes, colors, letters & puzzles he amazes me! #AutismAwareness
I don’t have a huge platform, but if I can help provide a little bit of awareness & understanding that’s a good thing. If anyone is ever doing an autism fundraiser, charity, drive or anything like that let me know.
When he was an infant he was “the easiest baby ever”. Slept great, ate everything, and rarely fussed/cried. As he got older, we thought he may have been deaf because he wouldn’t respond to certain things (the smoke detector went off one time as he didn’t even blink).
Then we (especially my amazing wife) started doing research and learning more about autism. A lot of the stuff we read lined up with him, so we got him assessed & diagnosed just a couple of months ago. There are challenges, but at the same time he does AMAZING things!
Every milestone is precious when it comes to your children, but when you have an autistic child it’s even moreso. Months ago he would hardly make eye contact or speak. Yesterday he ran to me when I came home from work, hugged me and said “dada”. I was like...
There are tough times, but I’m not ashamed & I don’t look at him as a burden AT ALL. In fact, I find it amazing to watch him grow & learn in his own way! His speech is behind, but he “asks” about everything in his own way - pointing at stuff & waiting for you to say what it is.
I can just tell that he’s downloading it all so that when he’s ready, he’s going to have a breakthrough! Such an amazing little guy. He FASCINATES me and I can’t wait until the day when we can really talk so I can understand him even more.

Thank you everybody for the kind words! It’s also great to hear your stories and how autism affects you and/or your family.

Still learning & growing everyday! It takes extra work, time & care, but he’s hitting new milestones all the time. It’s challenging, but also fascinating to find out what works for him & then adapt as necessary. #WorldAutismAwarenessDay
