Why #coronavirus seems manageable/ controllable in Hong Kong? (aka How Hong Kong citizens save ourselves while the gov does nothing?)

1. Decrease in no. of tourist from China due to #antiELAB protest. Basically #CCP banned most travel to Hong Kong to ban the news of the protest.
2. Some citizens (myself included) started wearing masks since early Jan 2020 after the news of #coronavirus in #Wuhan was reported to WHO on 31st Dec 2019.

3. Most citizens started wearing masks since late Jan 2020. People stockpiled masks & disinfectants.
4. In response to the short of supply of masks & disinfectants in the market in Hong Kong, individuals, businesses, politicians (HKGovt excluded) have been searching for supplies from all over the world.
5. Those supplies are given or sold to the public in a reasonable price.
6. The newly appointed district councillors (mostly pro-democrats) collect new individually wrapped masks from citizens and redistribute them to those in need.
7. Said councillors search for supplies and redistribute bleach & alcohol rub to citizens.
8. Due to the inadequate protective supplies for medics in Hong Kong, citizens donate masks & businesses donate PPE to healthcare workers.
9. Businesses give discounts or priorities to healthcare workers in purchasing masks & disinfectants.
10. Citizens support healthcare workers to strike for closing Hong Kong’s borders to China. And the govt... you know what? Just see the picture below.
