This is a sad thread but I really hope it winds up inspiring others to give an elderly dog stuck in a shelter somewhere a look. This is a thread about my dog Buddy.
Buddy was old, blind and stuck, unadopted, at the Santa Paula Animal Rescue Center ( @SPARC805) and they needed a foster home while he looked for his permanent home. (His name was Simon back then...) https://twitter.com/ABC7Jory/status/637336883471650816
I even recorded a segment with Simon to air in a story about @SPARC805 to try and get this little guy adopted. But that segment never aired because....
I mean, come on...

So Simon became Buddy and Buddy became my hilarious, goofy little boy. Being blind, he couldnât climb stairs but quickly learned...
And loved to scratch his own back...
A lot...
And found ways to celebrate holidays...
But Buddy started slowing down. Recently he lost weight, could no longer do stairs, then couldnât always make it outside when he had to go, and finally, this month, could no longer really do walks...
So after consulting with his vet and many of my compassionate dog-loving friends and family, today we celebrated Buddy with some cake and a lot of love and helped him take that walk across the rainbow bridge
to a place where he could once again see. And run. And play.

And I hope that maybe seeing how cute and goofy and funny Buddy was will give someone a thought to rescue an elderly dog who is living out their days trapped in a shelter. Puppies are cute, but older dogs appreciate a home and will give you so much love.
Here are just a few resources to help find your future best friend. There are senior dogs & cats close to everyone who reads this, just waiting to meet you!
Love you, my Buddy
