So I thought I would write about why I am happy to vote for Joe Biden in November. First, Big Fucking Deal
Why does that make me happy. It is him acknowledging what a huge accomplishment it was for Obama, Reid, and Pelosi to push through national health care reform. FDR, Truman, Kennedy, Johnson, Carter, and Clinton couldn't do it. Obama & Congressional Dems did. A Big Fucking Deal
And yes, it is incomplete and it has been sabotaged, but it can be salvaged and put on the track to covering 100% of Americans so they get the health care they need when they need it from health providers they trust at a cost they can afford.
And @JoeBiden wants to build on and reform the ACA to fix where the saboteurs have broken pieces of it and to add the missing element stolen by Joe Lieberman - the public option. He is not willing to trash Obama's legacy on a complete overhaul, knowing the Courts are dominated by
hostile ideologues and partisan hacks. Incrementalism has the protection of precedent. A revolution does not. So that is a big reason.
Secondly, @JoeBiden is a calming force. It's not that he can't get mad. He can and has, but he is not reactive. If he read a headline that pissed him off, he would not start slandering anyone based on that headline without reading the article and getting the facts - unlike Bernie
This is important. One of the reasons Trump is so dangerous is his reactive personality. Anything can set him off and he goes without checking the facts. Bernie is exactly the same. More than once he has been out ahead of his skis because he hasn't the patience to learn the facts
Third, and this is important for personal reasons. @JoeBiden wrote the Violence Against Women Act, a bill that has saved the lives of two of my nieces. One niece VAWA not only relocated her, but gave her a new identity. She was gone for years, but came back to her family when her
ex-husband got sentenced to 20 years in prison. My other niece was relocated when she was being stalked by a complete stranger who did crazy things like file change of address forms to intercept her mail, requesting IRS forms, and forging documents that told the school she lost
custody of her son, which they were ready to believe since she is half Native American and her ex is white. But it was not her ex who sent it, though he was suspected. Because the stalker was using mail, etc, the Feds got involved. She was relocated with her son.
The guy was caught when he started stalking another woman - in the same apartment complex. It was the apartment manager. He died in 2019, so my niece is thinking of moving home since she thinks MN is less racist than AZ. Anyway, @JoeBiden's VAWA saved their lives.
Then there is the simple fact that Joe Biden is just a nice guy. There is a reason he connects so well on the human level. He has a deeply sentimental love for people. There are a lot of people who love humanity and hate people. Joe loves both.
Fifth, @JoeBiden believes in democracy and representative government. He believes in legislative oversight and the Courts. He believes in the civil service. He doesn't run around with deep state conspiracies. He has no desire to eviscerate the civil service on behalf of patronage
Sixth, @JoeBiden believes in NATO and our international commitments. This is in stark contrast with Trump and Sanders both of whom are hostile to NATO expansion. Bernie has stated that he would ban Ukraine & Georgie from NATO, like Trump opening the door to Russian invasion there
Seven, @JoeBiden knows many foreign leaders already and has conducted diplomacy on behalf of Obama which means he can get to work right away on fixing the mess Trump leaves behind.
Eight, @JoeBiden is a Democrat. He supports the Democratic Party and does not slander it daily. He has worked with Democratic representatives and senators to pass legislation. He was not just submitting amendments & speaking, he was writing & passing legislation. Effective
Ninth, @JoeBiden is warm and optimistic. He smiles easily and often. He has Resting Smiling Face. He doesn't need to be reminded to smile. We need some optimism. We need someone whose instincts are towards optimism and seeing people in their best light. We need someone with humor
10th, @JoeBiden is not a conspiracist. He operates under Hanlon's Razor, never ascribe to malice what can be explained by stupidity. This is important. We don't need someone whose instant reaction to any negative thing to perceive it as personal persecution.
That last thing America needs is another conspiracist who feels every negative thing is personally directed as an attack on him. This, by the way, is one of the primary reasons Bernie is temperamentally unqualified for the presidency. We see what it is like having a conspiracist
in the White House with Trump complaining that Coronavirus is a conspiracy, a hoax, etc. We don't need another person who is equally irrational when it comes to his ego
I've lost count, but new reason, @JoeBiden believes in science. he believes in climate change. He has never claimed lack of orgasms cause cancer. He has not advocated teen sex as a form of cancer prevention.
12th @JoeBiden has racial blind spots but he understands that racism is the central fracture of our society. He does not write off civil rights activism and representation as identity politics. He was a good second to Obama, loyal and they became friends.
13, the one time @JoeBiden pushed Obama publicly against orders it was to advance gay marriage. The suggestion he misspoke is contradicted by him saying it on two different shows. He pushed. Obama did not smack him down.
14. When talking about economic issues, Biden brings up redlining on his own. No one has to remind him of systemic racist policies that kept Black people from building wealth.
So what are your reasons?
17. A powerful reason I support @JoeBiden is a desire to return to normality. Politicians who do not respect the conventions of constitutional democracy scare me. Trump has endangered our democracy. A second Trump or a first Sanders would only put the nail in the coffin.
I want many big changes, but I want them won through the messy process of legislation, not through Executive Orders and assumption of unconstitutional powers. I don't want a revolution, I want reform.
18. I trust @JoeBiden. We knew in 1991 that Trump was not trustworthy. We saw Bernie promise to remain a Democratic Party member and then a month later files as an Independent for 2024 senate. We saw him renege on his pledges to Democrats in 2016.
19. @JoeBiden has his own accomplishments and does not have to steal other people's accomplishments. He is quick to give credit to others and share his accomplishments while Bernie takes credit for things he only speechified and voted for while others drafted, sought co-sponsors
20. Biden wins the support of actual Democrats. Bernie relies on independents, libertarians, and ratfucking Republicans to get primary votes.
21. Biden surrounds himself with professional staff who don't troll on twitter. Who do you see getting headlines for trashy behavior? Nobody, that's who
22. For all the screaming about money in politics and so on, @JoeBiden is spending far less than his self-righteous opponents.
23. Donald Trump is scared to death of @JoeBiden and the GOP and Putin are actively assisting Bernie. Why is Biden so terrifying compared to every other candidate? First, America knows Joe and trusts him. Secondly, Joe's calm character is a sharp contrast to Trump's volatility.
Biden is THE contrast candidate to Trump
Biden - Trump - Bernie
Happy - Angry - Angry
Thoughtful - Reactive - Reactive
Calm- Paranoid - Paranoid
other-oriented - self-centered - self-centered
Optimistic - Pessimist - Pessimist
Constitutionalist-Burn it all down-Bern it all down
24. Vote Like a Black Woman - and not just when they vote for a white woman.

Black voters support Biden. Black people don't have the privilege of burning/berning it all down and risking the hard won gains on birds in the bush
25. Now, this does not include all the policy reasons I like about Biden. Frankly, I like a lot of policies from a lot of candidates. The big secret of presidential politics is policies are written in the clouds, signals of what people value, but not written in stone.
Policies tell us what they might fight for, but the majority of what presidents do has nothing to do with what they plan on doing thanks to how the world does not wait around for them. So, what really matters is character and temperament
Nothing matters more than someone being good in an emergency, of being calm and reasoned, being able to inspire calm, to bring people together. Nothing is worse than people who are reactive, who will fly off the handle, who can't stop to find the facts before acting.
I trust @JoeBiden in an emergency. We know Trump is worthless in an emergency and singularly indifferent to the well-being of the public. We know Bernie is impatient and quick to anger, that he speaks without finding the facts, that he is quick to see plots against him
Bernie would care about the people of Puerto Rico, but if explosion killed a lot of people, he would be blaming people before we found out if it was a gas leak or an attack. If it were a gas leak, he would claim the company deliberately endangered people to make $$ before facts
Give me calm, thoughtful, and deliberative every damn day of the week
