A thread of practical advice for preparing for #CoronaVirus - please share widely, it's well researched. #thread #covid19UK #PlanNotPanic

Thanks.
1. Hand washing - 20 seconds at least actual scrubbing with hot water and soap. Sing 'Happy Birthday' twice for correct timing. #coronavirusuk #PlanNotPanic
2. Make sure you don't waste that 20 seconds by then touching a dirty tap. Either wash the tap too, or use a paper towel as a barrier to turn it off. #CoronaVirusUpdate #PlanNotPanic
3. Carry handgel at all times. This should be 65%+ alcohol content. Check ingredients - '99.9% effective' gels may not actually be the 65% you need #CoronaVirusUpdate #PlanNotPanic
4. Clean your phone regularly with your handgel - be careful, of course, and check to make sure your screen will cope with it. But your phone is going to be pretty dirty (you rogue). #CoronaVirusUpdate #PlanNotPanic
5. Really practice not touching your face. Try to make a game of it or something. It's hard but can make a real difference. #CoronaVirusUpdate #PlanNotPanic
6. For now, only call 111 if you have cause to - ie symptoms *and* either travel to affected location or suspected contact with carrier. 111 is getting inundated atm. #CoronaVirusUpdate #PlanNotPanic
7. Get involved in petitions and emailing MPs about our very low capacity of hospital beds, should things get worse.

8. Work from home if you can and avoid any unnecessary travel. #CoronaVirusUpdate #PlanNotPanic
9. Kick up a fuss about an NHS survey that suggested we really aren't as ready as @MattHancock is suggesting we are...

10. Stay hydrated and eat healthily. 10 micrograms of vit D a day is recommended by NHS. #CoronaVirusUpdate #PlanNotPanic
11. Make sure you get your prescriptions in on time! #CoronaVirusUpdate #PlanNotPanic
