Candle Making 101

I’ve been practicing candle making for a little over a year and it is a science.

Law #1: Wick Size Matters.

The girth of your flame must be proportionate to the circumference of your container.
Law #2: We must do everything we can to avoid “tunneling”.

The first time you light the candle, don& #39;t trim the wick. Allow candle to burn long enough to get the entire top liquid wax.
Law #3: Melt Pools

A full melt pool means the wax has been heated long enough to reach the edge of the container. This usually occurs in about 1-2 hours. A full melt pool should be 1/8 to 1/4 inch deep which will allow the fragrance to disperse more completely into the room.
Law #4: Let the wax melt all the way across.

Once your candle& #39;s lit, don& #39;t blow it out until the top layer of wax has melted all the way across. Notice how clean this burn is!
