The Japan Times has a very handy, if VERY alarming, case count and map of the spread in the country. Things are not looking good for Gunma and Yamanashi, being smack dab in the center of infected prefectures...
This is now a #japanlife under coronavirus thread.

I thought it was hilarious that people were stocking up on toilet paper until I remembered I actually only have one roll left. Went to the store and... Idk what I'm gonna do if they don't restock in about 3 weeks
Good thing I still have "kitchen paper" bc this bitch empty!
Serious question: y'all will mail me some toilet paper if there are really none left and my friends here can't give me some, right? 🥺
My gym, which I have been diligently going to 3 times a week for the past 2 months, is suspending services indefinitely due to the coronavirus. I'm really upset because I've only just started getting used to this schedule, and now I'll have to find a new way to exercise

And Gunma officially has its first documented case! A doozy! Daycare worker who is now in the hospital with serious conditions, has already developed pneumonia. Hope she turns out okay!
JIC you're somehow not too worried about the situation in your own neck of the woods to be interested in now other countries are doing: Gunma now has 13 cases (1 death), with 2 in cities bordering my town... Yet they're gonna reopen school in 2 weeks & start club activities
With the number of cases increasing, covid19japan has updated their map legend so that each color level encompasses a wider range of numbers
Double the amount of new cases from yesterday. We are so fucked haha (not as fucked as America though... stay safe guys!)
~please close the fucking schools~
Update: starting next week, my school will be "closed" until the end of Golden Week on 5/6. What this really means, apparently, is that they're splitting the students up into 4 groups and having 2 groups come a day for 2 periods each, alternating groups every other day.
Sounds complicated but basically group A will come to school for periods 1&2, B comes for 3&4. The next day, C & D will do the same. School hours end before lunchtime. Of course, all teachers still have to show up, & there is no school lunch.
Gunma also apparently just got 4 new cases 🙃
Coronavirus, whispering to Gunma: you're next bitch

(Gunma is the prefecture with Takasaki City. As you can see, the cases are spreading out from Tokyo slowly...)
Bummer! Shimane, one of the last three holdout prefectures in Japan that hasn't had any cases yet, just got their first one this morning
HUH?!?!? WHAT
WHAT HAPPENED HOLY SHIT
Oh fuck. 33 of them were new infections contained with a private nursing home...
500+ infections a day and growing, will probably be over 600 infections daily by end of next week. We need action now, but the government is too powerless to enforce businesses to close lol
oops haven't kept this up to date but in case you haven't heard... all of japan is under a state of emergency now, which means i only need to go to work for one day this week :)
Things died down considerably during lockdown but surprise surprise if people don't stay indoors and away from cities, the numbers go back up! And so I'm picking up this thread again. Cases are literally back to the same before the quarantine
