Someone asked why all/most professors support @ewarren. Maybe it's because academics recognize Warren as our favorite colleague? If you're lucky your department has one person who will have good ideas & is able to do the committee work. Most departments have none. #BestColleague
If the current Democratic field was sitting around your department conference table:

Mayor Pete: scored really high on his GRE, wrote a good diss, and is in his first year on the tenure track. He's focused on his third year review, not fixing your department.
Klobuchar: she just got promoted & tenured. She edits a really good journal and has a lot of grad students. Some whisper that she isn't too nice to the grad students.
Biden: he's been around the department a long time, seen it all. Sometimes his hugs are a little awkward, but you can count on him to sit with you in the hospital waiting room.
Bernie: he hasn't published anything in a while, but still enjoys teaching his classes. His students love him.
Bloomberg: wants everyone in the department to be rated on their profit/loss ratio. Thinks students are a waste of time unless they're bringing in money. Asks everyone if they've gotten any grants lately?
Who would you put in charge? Definitely the energetic one with all of the plans & the great sense of humor who likes to organize things. She'll send the emails & doodle polls. She'll run the meeting & make sure everyone agrees. She'll write the reports & get things approved.
Anyway, I just voted for Elizabeth Warren for President in Texas.
