wangxian and baoshan sanren/lan yi parallels: a thread
1. starting with the obvious:

— lan wangji is a close relation, nephew or great nephew of lan yi. both descended from the main branch of the lan clan.
— wei wuxian is the son of baoshan sanren’s disciple, cangse sanren.
2. they’re both that that one person who has always been there, or who is most loved.
2. "the only one"

sorry, got sidetracked because this scene fits as well. anyway.
3. they were always framed as history repeating itself. lwj shared bssr’s princples, and lan yi shared wwx’s ideas.
4. is this enough to add as a valid parallel?? saying someone’s name to try to reach out to them knowing you’re gonna fail?
5. it was never a matter of judgement or ethics. they were both only worried about how it’d affect the person they loved.
6. I’m pretty sure the person holding the sword is more scared in both cases,,,,
7. “what if you lose control"
8. #WEIWUXIAN & #LANYI: RIP to those hags but I’m different
9. in the end they’re both sect leaders, and had to stick to a course for the people who relied on them.
10. both members of the lan sect found themselves confined to the cold cave to atone or repent.
I’ll end with the two lonely lan sect gays and their pet rabbits.
