Please can we stop the nonsense about the so called risk of ‘Self ID’ - what difference could it possibly make? Are we introducing legal document or even physical checks on entry to every women only space? Because if not we already Self ID when we choose which space we use 1/9

I use the Men’s toilet as I identify as Male - I choose which toilet to use, no one else decides for me or needs to see my documents of proof before I enter - by walking in I have Self ID’d to use that facility - so any so called Self ID legislation changes nothing 2/9

Then I hear ‘but it will be abused by violent cis men’ - an intentionally emotive statement, but exactly how? Is a violent man waiting for an opportunity to ‘Self ID’? - to seek medical approval to have hormone treatment, develop breasts, become infertile, live 24/7 as female 3/9

just to legally change documents to abuse Self ID & gain entry into women spaces ... that don’t need documents to gain entry to! Of course not- so if not medically how about socially- under Self ID could they wear a dress, wig & lipstick to pretend to be female to gain entry? 4/9

Yes, of course they could, but they can do that now! Nothing about Self ID has any impact on cis man’s ability or choice to dress as a women for illegal aims & reality is they don’t! The evidence shows this simply isn’t something Male preditors do- so the danger is pure myth! 5/9

Self ID already has no impact or power on prison placement as the authorities have full control over where prisoners are placed and they must ensure both violent cis and trans prisoners are housed accordingly away from any more vulnerable prisoners 6/9

So what difference will Self ID make? The proposed GRA Reform will simply do what it’s intended for to make the process of legally changing a birth certificate more humane - that’s it! The whole Self ID fears and dangers are pure scaremongering pushed by those intent on harm 7/9

There are no ‘rights’ being lost or taken away - the Government statement at the time of the GRA Reform consultation quite clearly stated the reform was to make no changes or impact on the 2010 Equalities Act so was to have no impact on the legal use of sex designated spaces 8/9

So Self ID legislation & fears are a total myth because Self ID is already in use - however we dress & present ourselves to the world, whether we be Cis, Trans or NB, is exactly how we Self ID & on that basis we choose the facilities that we use- so ‘Self ID’ changes nothing! 9/9
