the lengths people will go to to cover up systemic issues and sexual abuse are always impressive. again, cancel culture is not real. I see victims of sexual abuse whose lives have been forever shaped by despicable adults in power, I do not see victims of cancel culture. https://twitter.com/mlrich4/status/1230860702719643648
These coaches and these abusers and these systems rely on our judgment of the players coming forward and our fond memories of their public persona, or our concerns over what will happen to our heroes when they are exposed.
Let me not mince words. If my heroes are abusers? Fuck my heroes. And fuck yours too.
nothing is more nauseating than the "but his life is ruined!" when people pretend cancel culture exists, as if there aren't dozens of men walking around with the weight of this abuse, and abuse like it, every day. If this isn't worth "ruining a life" for, please tell me what is.
anyways, please heed the warnings on the article. it is a very tough read and will make you angry. please, please, please believe victims and please, please, please stop turning a blind eye because some is a "good coach" or "good player"
dug up this thread, from the original story posted back in February, to share that there is an update. Thank you to Katie Strang for her excellent reporting. May she never need to write another like it. https://twitter.com/KatieJStrang/status/1265976949911977985?s=20
