So last night ScotGov quietly published a report on the 2019 exam results, 32 minutes after releasing the material to me as part of a 6-month FOI battle. Here are some before-and-after images of the material that is now unredacted:
What's really amusing is just how daft the redactions were. The material they were trying to kept secret here is incredibly dull, and I say that as an Enlgish teacher!
'Candidates need to ensure they are addressing all aspects of a question.'

Really? Because I'd just been telling my students to read the first few words then write down whatever the hell popped into their heads.
Although to be fair other parts are a bit more interesting/embarrassing. Such as the section on Maths qualifications that repeatedly highlights "weak numeracy".
Closing the attainment gap?
One thing lots of people are saying is that this report shows declines in pass rates, but that information has been available since August last year.
When pressed by @BBCGaryR, however, John Swinney was eager to keep the focus on this year's decline in Higher, comparing it to increase in N5 pass rates after a decline at that level last year. But here's the picture over the last few years.
And this is the big one: the overall Higher pass rate over the last 10 years. That isn't 'annual variation' or volatility - it's a trend.
