How to write for a tail/coil fetish tip #3921

*Place the dominant party in the scene

*Place the subordinate part in the scene

*Place the tail/source of the coils in the scene

Keep track of all that as the RP and/or story progresses, then apply sensation descriptors. (1/??)
Really when you come down to it, any kind of writing is just an instruction manual for the brain to build a scene. If you're going for any sort of fetish you don't want to leave gaps for the brain to go "???" if possible. Think of kink writing as a roadmap from setup to 'Climax'.
Like with any journey you need to think 'What is the starting point, and what is the destination'. In the case of general coil-kink, generally, your destination is complete encapsulation within some kind of living bonds. If you want to do it well, don't start there.
Your starting point is simply two parties in a space. Set the space, set their place within the space, and build towards the climax of the scene. You're trying to get from point A "A free and unbound person" to point B "A bound person." The best roadtrip to that point has detours
These detours will vary depending on your audience, but if dealing with coil-kink, there's a power dynamic to consider. One party, through the nature of their anatomy, can take away the agency of another with very little effort. This can be played to as the journey goes.
If you're dealing with hypnosis, the subject isn't instantly under in the first paragraph, or if you're dealing with vore, no one ends up in the belly on the first line. With any kink there's a romance element, a slow build towards the desired endpoint.
With coils, this is important as it gives time to set the scene. Generally, if you are writing a story in which one character gets wrapped up by another there's a difference in size. Set the space. Does the dominant character fill it? Where do they stand/slither in it?
What about the subordinate party stand in all this? Are they dwarfed by the dominant party? If not, what sort of tactics will a similarly sized dominant character use to get the other party in their grip? This is where the bullet points at the start of this ted talk come in.
The largest mistake I see in a lot of coil writing is not setting the space. For instance, in the tweet below this, I'll write two versions of the same scene, one which doesn't take the points into account and one that does because it's early in the morning and I'm on a roll.
The elegator smirked as the tail wrapped around the mongoose. He was lifted upside down facing her smiling face. She could almost kiss him. She gave him a squeeze as the hypnosis set in, making him pliant as she leaned closer and began to speak.

The elegator perched atop her tail as it came up between her legs. A length of pink thicker than a barrel cinched cool and smooth over his shoulders. He was spun like a top, her tail laying itself across his body in huge loops, lifting him towards pleasingly spinning eyes.
The second one has more weight. If you isolate the first from the associated image...where is 'The elegator' standing? Where's her tail coming at him from? How is he wrapped up? How thick are the coils? How does it feel? Both are the same character count but one uses it better
Some might prefer the first, but if you're dealing with a coil fetishist, the fetish-object within the piece is the thing doing the coiling. Readers are looking for how it feels to be held, so place the fetish object's existence within the written space at premium.

You're looking to evoke weight, presence, texture and strength if working with coils

"Her tail wrapped around his throat." doesn't play as well as: "The tip of her tail slithered over his shoulder, pressing soft and firm against his throat, his cheeks pressed up by its girth"
When dealing with tail stuff in particular, there's a unique dynamic to it because the thing doing the coiling is behind the dominant party, so to set it properly in the space, they might have to take different stances/poses to properly convey a hold/idea.

Dealing with a tail-fetishism there's probably some interest in the hindquarters as well in general so use that to your advantage. Presence can be suggested by how a character has to swing their hips to move a tail, or how wide said hips need to be to support it.

Even if dealing with a naga, the best way to suggest presence and weight is to make things a whole-body affair, and not make the tail/coils seem disembodied. If coils are moving, that means the whole being is moving, how does that affect the room? Their stance?
Do floors groan when coils move? Does air audibly move out of the way when a tail swishes? Does a tailed character have to turn around to use that appendage? If not, what poses are they taking to allow it to factor into play?

There's a lot of fun one can have with slithery, weighty, mobile appendages in writing! The best way to take advantage of this is to mostly pay attention to what's important to describe and go ham!
