why monsta x's "All About Luv' is Actually a complex masterpiece of a love story, in which a boy falls in love with a girl, realises it's an unhealthy relationship, goes through terrible heartbreak and then finds the love of his life in another boy: a thread
this is a theory that came to me based on the changing use of pronouns in the 10 songs of English Album 'All About Luv'. Through my extensive research, I have concluded that the songs, when placed in the correct order, tell a beautiful lgbt love story. Let us begin.
1st Chapter: SHE'S THE ONE

The story starts with Shes the one. This is about a boy finding a girl he truly loves, writing a song about how hes nervous around her, and finally confessing his love to her.
"Cant eat, cant sleep, cant think, cant wait any longer" - this line is the beginning of their relationship. The boy cant wait any longer and they are soon together in what he considers the perfect couple.
Chapter 2: BESIDE U

The second chapter is Beside U. We watch as their relationship develops into something fun, a little risky, a little more sexual. Theres not a lot of depth with this song, it means what it says. Their relationship is wild and they discover the world together.
"I'm gonna be there when you wake up in the middle of the night." This line shows us how close they have become, and clearly leads us to the next chapter of their relationship in a smooth and beautiful way.
Chapter 3: MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT

At first this may seem like a normal love song, but the lyrics are tinged with something darker, something telling. A regret, almost. Lines such as "I shouldnt have let it happen so fast," show how the boy is looking at the wild scenes of BESIDE U
and regretting it.

"I dont wanna know who you're taking home." This is clearly warning signs for a bad relationship.. is she cheating on him? Does he know? The subtle mood change is very clever - if you dont look into the lyrics, it can be hard to notice.
"Girl why'd you have to play me like that? I tell myself I should leave you..." This leads into our next chapter, as he realises this relationship is no longer healthy and he should leave even though, right now, he cannot bring himself to.
Chapter 4: MISBEHAVE

This song is entirely about an unhealthy relationship. There is no denying it. It's my favourite song on the album and I think for good reason - the tone, the production, the lyrics are beautiful, and signals a changing point in the story and the album.
"I only feel alive when I dont feel safe." This line hits hard. I don't have to explain this song much - the boy and girl fight and fix it with sex. The violence and the manipulation show they're stuck in an unhealthy place. This is the beginning of the end for their love story.
Chapter 5: YOU CANT HOLD MY HEART

The breakup song. The release song. The finding your own feet after losing a part of yourself song. This is the boy coming to terms with being his own person after a long time with a girl he thought he loved.
The first line of "Oh can you stay awake, one more hour maybe this can change," - shows the boy isnt ready to let go. He put too much of himself into a toxic relationship. This is a very real and raw reality for a lot of people and I think it's done really well here.
He's still asking to be hurt.

Alas, he comes around. "Theres nothing I can say at all, you can't hold my heart no more." A cathartic turn around. Finally, he's ready to let go and see what else the world has to offer.
Chapter 6: HAPPY WITHOUT ME

Happy without me is a reprise of worry. It's been five months since they broke up, and still the boy looks at her smile and misses her. However, there is a change in attitude - he can see she was toxic all along. A big character development!
This is seen through lines such as "posting all those pictures because you'll know I'll see." - in a bad context, this can be seen as a manipulation tactic. Its a difficult thing to come out of an unhealthy relationship and this song shows the boys journey.
"'Cause honestly, I'm doing okay, but the other ones I'm talking to don't feel the same." The boy has started looking for other people, but he cant get her out of his head as they're not the same to him. This leads us to our next chapter.
Chapter 7: SOMEONES SOMEONE

Someone's someone is a song about longing and wanting to be loved. The boy knows what it is to love as he loved the girl, but he was never loved back. He just wants to be somebodies special someone. He wants to feel loved.
The lyrics hint at something behind the scenes. The line "someone full of secrets, secrets in the shadows" - has the boy found somebody he longs for? Is this song not about the girl, but somebody new? In that case, why would that person be secretive... unless they were gay?
Chapter 8: YOU GOT MY NUMBER

This is where things start looking up for the boy.

He finds another boy.

Hear me out, here. This song is very cleverly genderless. No mention of a girl at all. Only that the person they are talking to used to be with a guy.
"Everybody wants what they want,
Loves who they want,
And I can keep a secret, so-"

This line is what first convinced me there was something more to this album. It is too specific of a pre chorus to not mean more. Is this the moment the boy discovers he likes boys too?
Is the secretive in someones someone being gay, and You Got My Number is the boy telling the other that hes up for keeping the secret too?
"If you need someone who can love you while he's gone" is interesting. There's clearly a 3rd man in the picture, but he's not valued. Is it because he is not healthy too? Are these two boys, who have been through shit, finding each other and falling in love?
Chapter 9: WHO DO U LOVE?

So the boy has fallen in love with another boy in a relationship. It is only natural he would be led to question "who do you love? Is it him or me?" after promising to drop everything for him in You Got My Number.
Now our boy has been through a lot. A toxic relationship, a horrible breakup, months of hurt only to discover he is gay. It's only natural he would give the other an ultimatum;

"If you cant say that I'm the one for sure, then I'm walking out the door."
One chapter left. One song to decide if the boy is happy, if he has found love. If he can save the other who he cares about so deeply, and they can forget all the heartbreak, all the pain. Theres "no time to waste". Its now or never.
Chapter 10: LOVE U

The story began with a song confessing love based on no groundings.

It ends with one of true love, of knowing someone from top to bottom, of only wanting them happy.
A song written by a boy who loves his partner - no pronouns, no unhealthy moments, no regret. He's found his Someone. He has friends ("what can we do with all your friends around") and a boyfriend too.
"Go on and take me right across the line."

This is not a wild ride like his relationship with the girl. It's one of trust. He trusts the other boy with every part of himself - theres no arguing before sex, no smashing plates or drunken shouting.
He has found a boy he wants to Love, and who makes him feel Loved.
EPILOGUE:
While this is mostly speculation, as you can see, when put together the story is very clear and really quite intricate. It is told beautifully, with raw ups and down, with real recovery from toxic relationships, with lovely LGBT representation.
In conclusion, monsta x truly did it for the gays, and "ALL ABOUT LUV" is the album of the decade.
