I just met a little girl on the train and we were chit chatting until I said I am a scientist.
Her eyes lit up and she said she wants to be a scientist too when she grows up

I showed her the space stickers on my phone and told her I'm a space scientist myself...

Her jaw dropped. She couldn't believe she was talking to a real life space scientist 
She wants to know whether there is life on other planets, so we spoke about Mars rovers and the ESA/NASA mission launching in July.
We spoke about water and life on Mars.

I told her about all the exoplanets we discovered, more than 4000, and that some are rocky like Earth

We worked out how many years I had been in school to become a space scientist, and she concluded that she works hard so she would be OK with being in school that long.
Determination is everything and at 7 years old she already has so much of it

We spoke about how important is to code in science 
and that space needs a lot of different skills: there aren't just astronauts!!! Even though I hope she applies to be one in the future

She said that she would like to be a singer, because she has a nice voice.

We talked about how it can be hard to be different things at the same time, but if you work hard you can be a scientist and like singing, too!

I told her that one day, if she decides to be a space scientist, she can call me and we will do a cool project together.
Maybe build a rocket that will go to Mars, or maybe even further away...
