Once Upon a time (5/4/13) Daddy was driving home from the cinema about midnight when he saw me wander onto the slip road of the motorway. He got out the car, a taxi stopped saying 'That dog has been running out all night, nearly got hit a few times'

Daddy tried to coax into his car. I was sensible and didn't get in! So daddy went into his boot and being a PE Teacher he found an old Skipping rope to slip round his neck and walk to safety. Being a wee scottish village, police called but was closed till morning.

At that time I was skin and bone, nose all cut from scavaging in bins, ribs showing. I was kept over night in safety, fed and watered, and warm. Away from the dangers which come with roaming the streets. I made a bit of a mess - I wasn't house trained or unwell!

The next day I was taken for walkies with my fetching Skipping rope. Taken to the vet to see if he had a chip, contact left with the police. On our walkies we got some questioning looks. We met a local that said 'that's the dog who was stealing rolls from the bakers yesterday'.

Daddy took me to his family house. Meet his family dog Alfie.. We have since grown to be good friends.. But on that day I warned him I was here and pee'd on his food bowl.. I was here!

We went to get groomed and washed that day. Smell of lavender. Silky smooth, golden coat. All the dirt out from the deeps of my coat. I looked amazing!

We went for dinner at daddy's family. They had made pasta and brought out two FROZEN garlic baguettes to cook. A wee catch up. However, after a wee chat when they went to put the baguettes into the oven they were gone.. Smelly breathe!

So 3 days passed. Seemed like a lifetime of love. Like there wasn't a time before me! But then it happened. The police called. The owner was found. Dad was in bits but sucked it up, and off he went to meet the owner.. I was also sad

Great news. After a short meeting, the owner accepted I looked so happy and comfy, I wouldn't leave daddy's side, and she was considering getting rid of me anyway so he could keep me! Best day of both our lives... And we changed my name to Bert! This is us!

And 7 years ago today was when we first met!

A love story to rival Titanic, The Notebook, Casablanca... Until I beat him at hide and Seek and he puts me in the shower!

Here's to many more years and anniversarys together!

On 29th September 2020 my mission to fill the world with love was complete

I had mum and dad kissing me, holding me, till I snored and peacefully passed away after a short battle with immune/nerve problems

I had shown too much love to ever be allowed to be in pain

The best

And at the Pearly Gates God said,

'Let me take you to heaven'

And Bert replied: 'I was already there'
