Books I read in 2020; a thread!
#1 Descendant of the Crane (2019) - Joan He
Original and creative; I was pleasantly surprised! Would have worked better as an adult novel, imo, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

#2 The Last Wish (2007) - Andrzej Sapkowski, Danusia Stok (Translator)
I liked the show a smidge more, but this was fun!

#3 Serpent & Dove - Shelby Mahurin
Two things:
1) this book was a FUN time
2) The romance was my favorite part. And I NEVER say that

#4 The Shadows Between Us - Tricia Levenseller
Dramatic, entertaining and a little bit vapid; in a soap opera sort of way. I liked that the MC's personality didn't change just because her goals did.

#5 Wicked Saints - Emily A Duncan
I did not like the writing and even 20% this thing was already riddled with tropes we'd seen a thousand times before. DNF.

#6 Spindle Fire - Lexa Hillyer
Sigh. I'd recommend this to a middle grade reader who likes romance novels and isn't too concerned about a good story. DNF

#7 Scavenge The Stars - Tara Sim
I'd only recommend this to someone who wanted a watered down version of The Count of Monte Christo, mixed with your run-of-the-mill YA novel. I was so bored.

#8 The Girl in Red - Christina Henry
I liked it well enough. It was well-written and well-paced, but also a little underwhelming. Lots of set-up with very little pay-off. The ending is especially disappointing if this turns out to be a stand-alone.

#9 If We Were Villains - M. L. Rio
Dark, well-woven, beautifully written, and utterly un-putdownable. I wish I could read this for the first time again. It's likely going to be my favorite book read in 2020. I can't stop thinking about it.

#10 The Sin-Eater - Megan Campisi
Fresh, original and well-written. This was a hecking page turner. My only complaint is that the MC didn't get nearly as much closure as she deserved - but that may have been the point.
