Yuval Noah Harari’s books are hot garbage and anyone who likes them is signaling this is the first time they’ve actually thought about important questions of existence.

He is reinventing the wheel, and not well. There are people much smarter than him who have written on the same topic. And Harari’s work is not even a simplification of these better works, it’s ignorant of them entirely.
