i frequently had to fight for the correct pay, even without taking into account the unpaid overtime, i was frequently shorted. sometimes as little as 2 hours but once or twice upwards of 10 hours. in my last few months there 5/6 checks in a row were late by nearly a week
for my top surgery i purposefully (as convention manager) made sure to schedule it during what was our pretty down time. i worked overtime to ensure the next two months were mostly handled and just needed minor things like shipping. made a DETAILED LONG email about what was -
done and needed to be done. i still got texts and calls while trying to recover from SUGERY about things i had clearly outlined before i left. and then i found out they sent my friend, UNPREPARED LAST MINUTE, to a con with no information and under prepared. i found out cause he-

i know a photog they owe a lot of money too and still tried using her photos. and dont get me started on the garbage fire that was her attempt at a lolita wig line. or the lies shes telling about her human hair wigline aimed at black women all while completely deceiving them!

it’s come to light that AT LEAST 4 people have been kept on a independent contactors but still treated and expected to act like full time w-2 workers, leaving more people with taxes to pay they should not have owed of $2k average
when the owner forcibly and without my content put me as a 1099 she argued with me about the specifications of an IC worker even when i showed her the documents from the IRS detailing the difference between 1099 and w-2/4
epic also consistently underpays employees. as exhibit manager and accountant i was making $13 an hour. most of our graphic artists fought to make $15/hour. marketing person was making, on average because of the overtime, sometimes less that $10/hour with the promise of a raise
another from two different sources: racism against POC models for product photos. funny considering how the sister company she, an asian woman, created is lying and saying it’s made and run by a team of black women. a huge lie.

more about modern fro: PLEASE BOOST THIS ESPECIALLY - the company modern fro was started without any black women involved, but is listed as a company by and for black women. one black woman was hired after the website was long up and given it with no info. prior to that the owner
told multiple employees (mostly women but none black, and also me a mixed mexican trans man) to FAKE BEING BLACK WOMEN ON SOCIAL MEDIA TO BOOST THE COMPANY. the one black woman quit due to various reasons like not being paid, having false accusations thrown at her and such
and the owner kept on going and STILL has it up that the company is black owned. i doubt she hired someone else who is black in the meantime and it’s likely still run on lies
i now have word that a minimum of at least 7 people have been forced to be under 1099 forms despite the fact they are treated as w-2 employees, meaning EC is not paying taxes for part/fulltime workers and those people were/are now on the hook for minimum of 2k in taxes/fines
some of said 1099 employees have had those documents, with sensitive information such as SSN misplaced/lost by management, which is extremely worrying if that was lost in a place that is not the office itself. some people have been over reported as well by upwards of 2k
several accounts (including my own) of consecutive paychecks being 7-13 days late, with excuses being given as to why it was late this time. promised raises or returns to previous paygrade that were never honored. accounts of an extremely hostile & micromanaging work environment
a minimum of 8 people who have come forward/i knew about previously either were not compensated or compensated extremely late for their time and promised covered expenses for working the booth at conventions
working at conventions i am now told is now ONLY viable for store credit payment. unsure if the daily allowance for food reimbursement has been touched but considering i had to fight for $30 allowance for 8hour+ days i have a feeling that may have been effected as well
at minimum 2 photographers that are owed a lot of money for services rendered, one of which i was told when working there stole/didnt return product and never gave the pictures despite being paid
work conditions in the warehouse have not changed. that is now 3 different locations with unsecured boxes falling on and injuring workers (who are now all 1099 so they dont qualify for workmans comp), extreme dust and mold issues which are dangers to the workers and to customers.
microagressions, micromanagement, unrealistic deadlines/workloads for a single worker, being berated if tasks arent done despite how unrealistic/impossible the taskload & timeline is. i personally was told project b was more important then yelled at for project a not being done?
when i was there she had us all bring in friends to take photos to make it look like we had way more employees than the less than 10 of us there actually was at any given time. presumably to lie to factories/investors/wholesellers
