Understanding that healing is NOT linear is so important. You won’t feel insane when you’re crying about something that you were sure you healed from. Some days you will feel okay. Great, even. Some days, you’re in agony. It’s okay. You are NORMAL. You’re STILL healing. Really.
This is a common theme I’ve seen on Instagram and it’s important to explain this.

Think of your healing as a zig-zag. Not a straight line. You WILL feel doubt, pain, and misery but you’re still moving forward. You’re not going backwards as long as you stay away from them.
You’re not weak and you’re not going backwards when you’re crying about something that you were sure that you were over. You’re human. You’re going through something incredibly difficult and it’s so worth it. Keep going. Keep zig-zagging forward.
And if your friends/loved ones have shamed you for coming to them and admitting that you still feel broken..? I am so sorry. You deserve to feel heard and NOT judged. Fixing a broken heart is fucking hard and you’re strong enough to do it. I believe in you! 💞
Feel your feelings. Feel that absolutely miserable ache and know that it’s because you cared so much. Know that ache is because you had high hopes for them and now you feel crushed. Let yourself feel it. Don’t repress it or it’ll just keep popping up. You’re healing that ache.
