Today marks a huge failure by @tribpub. The company who claims to care about journalism put profit over people — some of its best. Josh and @ebfIII reported from the bed of a pickup truck in a mall parking garage after the shooting in our office. Now, they have to take buyouts. https://twitter.com/joshuamckerrow/status/1225457088467472390
Josh, front and center as a @TIME's 2018 Person of the Year cover, asked the company for ANY amount to help him. ANYTHING. And they told him no, and that he's not "essential personnel." Pat, top right, can't even be here for his last day as he's in the hospital with pneumonia.
@tribpub execs are here when they get to go to fancy awards dinners with us or come to shooting anniversary memorials. They shake our hands and tell us we're important. They make money off of Tshirts "celebrating" our hard work after the shooting. So where are they now?
Remember that $100,000 we got from the Pulitzer Prize citation? Most of that was saved for "a rainy day," as advised by the company. Today, it's raining. Yet no one can help us.
