Still really early, but I'm a K'Lavon Chaisson fan.
I will say that this...this right here is not ideal.
I'm continually impressed by Chaisson's ability to corner and flatten to the QB at the apex of his rush. This isn't a sack but turning this tight of a corner with that much speed is mighty impressive.
MOAR BEND. Chaisson feints with the inside hand, getting the LT to shoot his outside hand. Reduces his blockable surface area by dipping his inside shoulder. Only place for the LT to grab is the facemask. Even with the facemask, Chaisson uses great footwork to corner & flatten.
Chaisson has a huge indicator on his 2-hand swipe, as he always swings his hands inside before coming outside to swipe. Savvier tackles are going to pick up on that.
Great speed-to-power from by K'Lavon Chaisson. He uses a beautiful long arm shot put to generate a quick win. Really like how he keeps his off-hand high to prevent 52 from latching as Chaisson walks him back. Great pad level, body lean and hand placement as well.
LSU EDGE K'Lavon Chaisson is shot out of a damn cannon on this sack vs Florida. Great surface area reduction as he corners as well. OL struggle to block below their waist.
Chaisson needs to clean up his arm-over a bit. Loops his outside hand way too high, which exposes his ribs to the blocker.
Great speed-to-power from Chaisson. Little false step out of stance but upfield burst makes up for it. Coverts speed to power with perfect timing, waiting until 73 turned hips toward sideline before initiating contact. Great leverage as well (hands above eyes).
We talk so much about length with trench players but here K'Lavon Chaisson (32¼") is more effective using his length than Andrew Thomas (arms: 36⅛") despite shorter arms. Knowing how to use length (timing, hand placement, etc) is way more important than just having length.
Good luck blocking someone as fast up the arc as Chaisson when he gets a good jump on the snap. Gains so much ground with his first 3 steps. Lower body flexibility enables him to carry his momentum through the corner.
