Been getting a lot of emails from this predatory journal lately, so I decided to submit this manuscript. Stay tuned.

To be fair, I really want to know what makes a bird tick...
UPDATE: Devastating news! Desk rejection! Appreciate the quick turnaround time though. Thinking of reformatting for Nature... #PublishOrPerish
AMAZING news folks. I submitted my paper to the prestigious Scientific Journal of Research & Reviews https://irispublishers.com/sjrr/ and it was accepted! They formatted it for publication, including @stacyfarina's lovely figure! Now to come up with $1,600...
UPDATE: I emailed the âeditorâ to ask if they were a predatory journal and he assured me they werenât. He said my paper was reviewed by three experts and sent me these reviewer comments. Iâm sold.
UPDATE: I asked for a fee waiver, and after consulting with their âHigher Authoritiesâ, they agreed to publish my paper for the low low price of $1,027! A steal for such a prestigious journal!
UPDATE: To anyone still following this ridiculous saga- I told the âeditorâ I was withdrawing my paper and sending it to Nature instead. We are now apparently in an open negotiation regarding the publication fee. How low will he go???
UPDATE: These fraudsters are really desperate. Theyâve now come down from ~$1,700 to $99. Worst. Scammers. Ever. The Nigerian Prince people would be embarrassed.
FOLKS. We did it. We wore them down. WE WON. This random, sketchy, blatant scam of a predatory journal decided to publish my magnum opus FOR FREE. You can now find the final, published version in all it's glory here: https://irispublishers.com/sjrr/pdf/SJRR.MS.ID.000540.pdf
Nice writeup on this sordid tale in @TheWeek by @KathrynKrawczyk https://theweek.com/speedreads/908969/whats-deal-birds-magnificent-scientific-paper-examines
See Jerry Coyneâs commentary here. I especially like âBy the way, the authorâs name, Daniel T. Baldassarre, sounds like a hoax name, too, but heâs a real biologist...â https://twitter.com/evolutionistrue/status/1250839758634434562?s=21 https://twitter.com/Evolutionistrue/status/1250839758634434562
