Some days back, one of my Friend who was ardent BJP supporter & a staunch Hindutvavadi, suddenly turned against Modiji & started criticising Modi Govt on Economic Failure. That's absolutely fine. Yes, #Economy is in trouble.

And everyone has a right to criticise the govt. No issues about that. But, reality is he didn't care about economy. He was appearing for Banking Exams for getting a job in Nationalised Bank. And he couldn't make it in 3-4 attempts. That was the reason he suddenly started...

..criticising govt on economy. His line of criticism was "Govt is merging Banks. So no of branches will reduce. & There are less jobs available in banks. Modi govt is not creating more govt jobs. Many people are preparing for govt exams but very few are selected".

What he said is actually true. Whether it's State govt or Central Govt, No of govt jobs (not just in banks) are not available in big nos as they used to be available earlier. And IMO, it's actually good. I appreciate Modi govt for this actually. I totally respect his right....

...to criticise govt. But, reality is he actually never cared abt economy. Had he cared abt economy, he would have criticised from long back. Why suddenly after he failed to clear baking exams? Thats because he just wants safe secured govt jobs which were an entitlement earlier.

So, easy availability of Safe, Secured, High paying govt jobs means economy is good? And otherwise bad? All govt dept are heavily overstaffed from long. Major expense of every govt in India is Remuneration to Employees. What is the reason behind MTNL, BSNL, Air India & other ...

..produce more jobs were not allowed to grow. Who Nationalised Air India, Banks, BPCL etc? It was Cong govt who created 'too much' seats of Govt jobs, whether in Banks, LIC, BSNL, or other depts to please voters & gain political advantage. Was it right?

We Indians are wrong to consider Govt Job as a right or entitlement of citizens. It's not. Govt is not obligated to create seats in its depts or PSUs. They will create jobs when they need people to work for themselves & not just because People want it.

Imagine urself running a business. If u need max 10 people for ur enterprise, will u take 15 just as a charity? If u take, then ur business may run into losses. And suppose u take 15, then isnt it obvious that u won't take anyone during future expansion & instead utilise ur....

..existing extra manpower? And in case of continuous losses, won't u fire some of inefficient employees to cut down losses? Even govt should function in the same way isnt it? Ok, govt doesn't function to earn profits like big corporates. But, even govt should follow financial...

... discipline, right? Should they take more employees just to fulfill dreams of people to get a lifelong safe Govt job with limited working hrs, more leaves, pay commissions etc? Many parents tell their children to try for govt job instead of any pvt jobs so that their child...

..won't need to change job in entire life & his/her life will be set. Many of my relatives give me the same advice of appearing for Bank, LIC, Railway exams & get a safe job because I couldn't clear CA in many attempts. Their concern is genuine abt me not been able to clear CA.

But the mentality of seeking a safe Govt job so that u won't need to update ur skills, learn anything new, lead a stable life etc is very bad. This is the result of 70 years of Socialist rule. Many people ask me "What do u mean by 70 years of Potholes due to Congress rule?"

"Even Congress did many things. How can u say Congress didn't perform anything." What Modiji actually means by the term '70 years of Potholes due to Congress' is Cong has cultivated the mentality of 'माय बाप सरकार' where govt feeds u, provides u safe Govt Jobs.

Cong never allowed Private Entrepreneurs to flourish & create more jobs. Infact they killed Private Entrepreneurship through high taxes (70%-80%), Nationalisation of pvt businesses in the name of helping poors. And they also overstaffed all PSUs & govt depts to woo voters.

Look at BSNL & MTNL. Their employee costs are 80%-85% of its Revenue whereas it's 20%-25% in case of Vodafone, Airtel etc. Imagine u running a business, earning revenue of Rs 100 & paying Rs 85 as just salary to employees. Will u ever earn profit? And in addition to that, ...

BSNL employees used to ask for 'BSNL Diwali' from its customers (even still ask in some rural areas) when it had monopoly in Telecom Sector & there were no private companies. This attitude of treating Govt Employees, Babus as some Gods is what have put us in this mess.

We need to shift away from this mentality. When I was doing internship under CA, my boss was once explaining costing of his CA firm to me in an informal talk. He was aiming at employee cost to Revenue ratio of 1:5 which was just 1:3. He explained to me "After clearing CA,....

..Ur remuneration. Think of it whether Govt or PSU employees contribute atleast 2 times their Salary? This is the biggest reason behind PSUs turning into White Elephants. And this burden is not on any politician but on Taxpayers like us. Biggest Expenditure of Central .....

..as well as all state govts is it's Employee Costs. This is the reason behind high Fiscal Deficits. Having so much employees is not bad, but what about productivity? We never fired a single inefficient employee till now since independence. Less govt jobs, Railway postings etc...

..is always criticised, condemned by public. And it also looks bad politically. And this is why I appreciate Modi govt for not getting pressurised by public criticism. Now, u know why BJP constantly brings issues like Ram Mandir, Kashmir, CAA-NRC etc (not saying BJP.....

...is not loyal to Hindutva, but is is also to balance Political fallouts of other issues like less govt jobs). Imagine outrage on less govt jobs in absence of Emotional issues. In future, this trend of less govt jobs is going to continue Whether one likes it or not.

If not done proactively, this will have to be done reactively like we did 1991 reforms under gunpoint by IMF. So, Please dont teach ur children, relatives etc to aspire for those Safe govt jobs just because life will be set. Everyone works hard for livelihood.

Govt employees are not some 'National Son-in-laws who should always be pampered & protected (Even tradition of treating son in laws with respect is now fading away & it's good). My point is we all should stop this Glorification of Govt Exams. We should teach new generation that..

...they will need to constantly upgrade their knowledge & skills, they will have to contribute to their employer to earn good pay. Don't teach new generation that Govt owes them something & govt job or freebies are their entitlement. They are not entitlement.

Govt doesn't owe u anything except Security, Justice & free n fair environment where a hardworking person can prosper. In Democracy, govt doesn't take care of people (except Security & justice) but it's the people who take care of their govt. That's what democracy is meant to be.
