Okay, a THREAD: I started my newspaper strip Dunce in January 2017, and I just passed strip number 600. I hardly get time to look back, but here’s a little evolution study. Starting w/strip 001, painted in watercolor... (before learning that newspaper printing didn’t love that)
Strip 101: The fish character got more important, and I had started doing more storylines (although still short, 4-5 strips). I had a full day job still at this moment, so I had help with coloring. (Not super happy with the colors of this period.)
Strip 201: Brego (the dog) had appeared in my life and in my strip. Brining tons of joy, frustration and strip ideas. Was coloring myself at this time, I like this one. Part of a pretty long storyline from when Brego “moved in”.
Strip 301: Mythical figures (like Death him/herself) was well integrated. Plus my fear of flying plus general everyday (small scale) anger/depressions and anxiety.
Strip 401: I had started to get the hang of longer storylines, and “secondary characters “ could be carrying them for 10-15 or even 20+ strips. This one from the kid Gustav’s school project on Birds. A little nod to @ANNELAMOTT and her wonderful book Bird by Bird
