Imagine alienating one of the strongest fan bases in the league with basic incompetence regarding fan experience and instead of simply owning up to your mistakes and fixing them, you attack media partners as if it's some grand media conspiracy against you.

The fans were all in on tanking for a few years. They were with you through what should have been the worst of it. But in the meantime the general fan experience got worse and the on ice product continued to suck and ownership is somehow shocked that fans are upset with them.

The time to have done everything to improve fan experience was during the tank years. "hey listen, we're going to struggle for a little here in order to soon be great, in the meantime we're going to make sure you enjoy your time in the building as we ride this out together."

improve the facilities, lower ticket and concession prices (you had a season ticket waiting list!), do some fun promotions that keep people engaged, embrace your proud history, don't let Danny Gare wear a knockoff jersey, spell alumni names correctly on their jersey.

If they simply laid the foundation that we're with you and thankful for our fans as we go through this down time on the ice I bet fans would be more willing to give ownership the benefit of the doubt. Instead they took fans for granted and wonder why people are pissed

The idea that the media is out to get them is absurd. WGR, TBN, The Athletic, Local News, Blogs all do better when the team is good. Why would they be actively rooting against you? It's their job to call out people in power when they screw up because they want the team to be good

The issue is they thought running a sports team would be easy because people like sports, and here's the thing, they're kind of right, as long as you aren't incompetent. They lack foresight and are just praying the team someday being reasonably competitive will bail them out.
