It looks like the transfer of Sander Berge to Sheffield United for a club record fee should be confirmed later today. As someone who watched him play a lot the last 3 years, I thought I'd write a quick thread on who he is and whether he's a threat to Lord Lundstram's place #FPL
WHO IS HE
I'll start by saying I'm a massive fan of his. He was signed 3 years ago only 18 yo to replace Ndidi, which was no easy task. He however impressed immediately in a Europa League campaign that lead to the quarter finals. He's a very classy player fans like to watch.
STRENGHTS
Despite being 1.95m (6'5) tall, he isn't too physical. He's very good at making himself available to receive the ball (think Frenkie De Jong) and he's very hard to get the ball off (think Moussa Dembélé). His passing is also good, although he's not the guy to provide...
... that defence splitting pass.
WEAKNESSES
His biggest weakness for me is that he sometimes gets caught out of position defensively. Last year this however didn't really cause too much problems cause he played in a very dominant Genk who ultimately and deservedly won the league
POSITION
His best position was at the base of a midfield 3, in a holding role. Applying this to the Shef U team, with his qualities the role he's most suited to seems the position Norwood plays. A straight swap Berge for Lundstram in the current systems seems out of the...
...question for me, unless Norwood takes over Lundstram's role (don't think he's suited for this but not too sure). I actually wouldn't be surprised to see Berge not immediately in the team, because of his defensive issues that might need to be worked on in a much harder league
CONCLUSION
He's a very good player with the potential to play for a top side in the future. Fantasy wise, he's a definite no go for me. Unless Wilder changes something tactically, I don't see him as a direct threat to Lundstram's position.

Hope this was helpful to someone🙂
