what space books do y’all like?

read: Embassytown, Light, KSR Mars, Left Hand, Blindsight, PKD Androids

to-read: Ancillary, 3-Body, Dispossessed, Delaney, Butler, Rajaniemi, Kefahuchi trilogy

should’ve read?: Culture, Expanse, Asimov, Dune

didn’t fuck with: Clarke, Stephenson
(the best spacey things I read/witnessed last year)
turns out I still *extremely* love this story, stoked that reading to @caraesten tonite gave me a chance to revisit it.

everything I want in a space story (Overview Effect, claustroagoraphobia, unknowableness) threaded through crystal sharp zone prose.

I like cosmic horror bc it's a purpose-built vessel for any writer to conjure the sublime.

I enjoy cosmic horror when it pairs its nihilism with ways a human mind can positively, empathetically, resiliently integrate the terror borne of those lethal hyperobjects closing in on us
(if it wasn't already obvious, my favorite Mountain Goats album is We Shall All Be Healed)
