Seattle Coffee Works Kintamani Natural

This has absolutely insane flavor for a light roast. Never had anything like it before.

The Roundy Mug Rating System:
= phenomenal, would write poetry about this brew
= fantastic, will seek it out
= this drink, I like it! Another!
= good coffee, no qualms
= it’s caffeine, will drink if no other options
No mugs = no deal

Zoka Coffee El Salvador Malacara B Yellow

Typically I don’t go for super light roasts (or super dark fwiw) and this one falls in that camp. A bit too sweet and fruity for me to really appreciate it, but very interesting if that’s your cup of joe. Still enjoyed it!

Joe Coffee Rockefeller

I look forward to Rockefeller every holiday season. A truly wonderful winter cup with fantastic flavor and some nice sweetness. Warms me up inside. One of the best coffees from one of my absolute favorite NYC coffee companies.

Philz Philtered Soul

I don’t typically spring for hazelnut, but Philz does it right. And I can have a little hazelnut, for a treat.

Dapper & Wise Roasters Tortoiseshell Blend

A nice, tasty cup. Didn’t catch all the notes they describe, but I enjoyed it.

Conduit Coffee Company Westlake Avenue Blend

A treat! This one really hits the chocolate notes and a splash of milk took it for a ride in the sweetness department. Also cool to learn about the company, they deliver their coffee via bicycle in Seattle!

Coava Costa Rica Vista del Lago

What a delight. I’ve had a few coffees from Coava and they never disappoint. This one is sweet and decadent, a really enjoyable cup!

Joe Coffee La Famailia Guarnizo

The best coffee by one of my favorite NYC roasters. An absolute delight. Can’t get enough of it!

Slate Coffee Roasters Ethiopia Adisu Kidane

Continuing my light roast education, this was a total treat from Slate. Fruity and sweet and absolutely delicious.

Vashon Coffee Company Burundi Kibingo Natural

This was a tasty cup but not as distinct or complex as some of the other light roasts I’ve been enjoying lately.

Cafe Vita Sumatra Gayo River

Of course it’s on brand that I’d love “a coffee with the soul of a beer,” but here we are. What an interesting brew, definitely recommend!

Cafe Grumpy Momentum

Grumpy is one of my favorite NYC coffee shops and this is their very solid house blend. I’ve heard it’s also great for homemade cold brew!

Cloud City Coffee Roasting Co. Cloud City Blend

What a delicious, sweet, chocolatey blend. Hell of a cup and I’ll definitely be back for more.

The Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie Orca Blend

I could use so many puns here but I’ll keep it simple: this is a killer coffee. Dark and roasty and criminally smooth. What a delight!

Seattle Coffee Works Colombia Antioquia Villa Laura

Another wonderful light roast that I’ve been enjoying over the last week, this one is very fruity and quite sweet.

The Black Cow Coffee Company Genetha’s Cabin

Support local businesses! Our local coffee shop is mostly closed right now with limited hours for bean purchases only. This nice Central & South American blend changes from time to time, but it’s always tasty and is my go-to.

McNulty’s Tea & Coffee Co. Jamaican Blue Mountain

Splurged a bit on half a pound of Jamaican Blue Mountain, which I’ve never had before. Definitely lived up to the hype, what a treat!

McNulty’s Tea & Coffee Co. Hawaiian Kona

Celebratory brew this week. I absolutely love Kona coffee, and McNulty’s delivers. Damn fine!

Seattle Coffee Works La Esperanza

The fine folks at Seattle Coffee Works deliver another absolutely delicious brew. This light roast from Guatemala has some seriously flavorful fruity notes. The vanilla hits on the finish to complete a really wonderful sip.

McNulty’s Tea & Coffee Co. The Old Judge’s Secret Blend

I’m really digging this blend, and can’t wait for McNulty’s to reopen so I can order more. Complex and roasty, with a smooth finish. They really do some wonderful blends.

Red Rooster Coffee Starr Hill Stout Blend

This excellent blend with notes of chocolate was a surprise mailbox drop from a local coffee fairy (thanks @kellyfaircloth!). It’s wonderful with a splash of milk, which brings out some sweetness. I’d love to try more from them!

Olympia Coffee Kenya Kaguma AB

Decent brew but not my favorite cup. I found it thin and lacking some of the flavor notes they described.

Bluebeard Coffee Roasters El Capitán Latin Blend

Enjoyed the sweetness this blend hit me with right up front. I always seem to enjoy Columbian beans and blends, it seems.

McNulty’s Tea & Coffee Co. Organic Sumatra

This makes a very nice, rich, smooth cup of joe. Another great one from my latest McNulty’s drop!

One Line Coffee Colombia El Progreso

Brewed this really wonderful coffee over the weekend and I’m absolutely digging it, further cementing Colombia as one of my favorite coffee regions. Picked this one up from @HOMAGE who are supporting their favorite Ohio businesses!

Velton’s Coffee Sulawesi Toarco Toraja

A little on the earthy side for my tastes, but still a really nice cup. Very distinct flavors including some nice sweetness and a hint of citrus. Looking forward to trying more from this region.

Ninth Street Roasting Hot/Cold

It’s cold brew szn so I set this one up for 48 hours in my Takeya. Very solid batch, strong and flavorful. Thanks again to the coffee fairy @kellyfaircloth for the great delivery!

Fundamental Coffee Co. Sulawesi Toraja Triple-Picked

Two mornings in a row with a Sulawesi brew, what a treat! Digging this one a bit more, as it’s got some spice to balance the sweetness. Definitely recommend finding beans from this region, it’s delightful.

Stamp Act Coffee Mexico Oaxaca Mixteca

An interesting cup but ultimately not my favorite.

Broadcast Coffee Colombia Gladis Lasso

This one was a treat, with some really nice notes of sweet fruit and honey that lingers for a really nice finish.

Keala’s Coffee Honolulu Blend

Simply delightful! Fruity and nutty and one I’ll absolutely be picking up again.

Middle Fork Roasters Midnight Rider

A really nice medium/dark roast that hits a lot of the complex fruity notes you’d expect from something lighter. Didn’t exactly get that blueberry muffin they were singing about, but it’s a tasty cup regardless!

McNulty’s Tea & Coffee Co. Organic Bali Blue Moon

I’ve never had anything quite like Bali coffee. This one starts fruity and a bit peppery up top and mellows out from there, but the spice lingers a bit long for me. Still a wonderful cup!

Philz Coffee Philharmonic

We’ve been missing San Francisco friends lately so this is a nice treat. Philharmonic is probably my favorite coffee from Philz, on the darker side of medium and an absolutely delicious blend. Bonus SF Points: drinking out of our Eats mug.

Philz Coffee Red Sea

Really close to giving this one another on the rating but doesn’t quite get there. A really nice blend that serves up some dark berry and chocolate notes. Enjoy this one with a splash of milk, for a treat.

McNulty’s Tea & Coffee Co. McNulty’s Blend

Another solid offering from McNulty’s in the West Village. This one is a blend of Mexican Coatepec, Costa Rican and French Colombian beans that really comes together nicely.

Keala’s 100% Kona

What a wonderful cup. I really don’t think there’s anything better than pure Kona coffee. This medium roast was a really nice treat.

Ceremony Synthesis

Prepared this one hot and as a tasty cold brew batch. Absolutely smooth with some fruity sweetness.

Seven Coffee Roasters Mexico Santa Fe Organic

This one nearly earned the fifth on The Roundy Mug Rating System. What a delightful cup, with some fantastic sticky sweetness and the toast really comes through, too.

Spyhouse Coffee Roasters Women Producers Coffee

Really nice one from Spyhouse in Minneapolis, definitely hit the sticky fruit and fudge notes. Excited to brew more from these folks.

Tinker Coffee Co. Zing

Absolutely incredible cold brew from Indianapolis, it hits you with smooth caramel and dark chocolate for days. I already know that I’m going to run out of this one way too soon!

Proud Mary Coffee Roasters Ghost Rider

An incredible, award-winning blend from a Melbourne/Portland coffee roaster. This one has a nice thick body to it, with some subtle sweet tang as well. Strong recommend.

Spyhouse Coffee Roasters Orion

Another great one from Spyhouse in MPLS. A lot of depth to this one that really brings the flavor. I’ve got a hunch it would also be fantastic as cold brew.

Tinker Coffee Co. Finca El Jardin

This one is a real treat, like biting into a dark, bitter, fruity, delicious chocolate bar. It hits you right up front with a ton of flavor and then mellows out in a truly delightful way.

Proud Mary Coffee Roasters Day Dreamer

A really wonderful treat of a cup. Impressed with everything I’ve had from Proud Mary.

Red Rooster Coffee Funky Chicken

This one is excellent brewed hot and also wonderful as cold brew. The chocolate notes are great but don’t overpower, and it’s a really delightful cup. Could easily become my regular home brew.

Red Rooster Coffee Farmhouse Breakfast Blend

Not always a fan of the lighter breakfast blends but this one is solid.

Red Rooster Coffee All Rise

Really wonderful to see so many coffee roasters (and brewers as well) supporting Black Lives Matter. And this one was an especially fantastic blend.

Red Rooster Coffee Las Lajas Black Honey

Another banger from Red Rooster. Everything they roast is fantastic and this one is no exception. Rich and jammy, really wonderful.

Ladro Roasting Fremont

I absolutely love this blend! After trying it last year, I just had to get a bag of beans as a treat during this quarantine. There’s some real nice, sweet molasses here alongside fruit and nutty notes. Truly exceptional.

Red Rooster Coffee Waxwing

Another good one from these folks. A smooth cup with delicious notes of chocolate and caramel.

Joe Coffee The Pause

Another delicious cup from one of my favorites in NYC, this one benefits the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. The notes on the bag are spot on, the plum especially shines alongside the nutty chocolate.

Ladro Roasting Village of Hope Blend

I dug this rich and smooth medium blend from Ladro in Seattle. Bonus points for a good cause.

Joe Coffee Overnighter

My ride or die cold brew. Years ago at the beginning of my first NYC stint, before the cold brew craze took off, I’d walk 5 blocks crosstown in the blistering heat just to get a glass of this from Joe. It’s just as good brewed here at home.

Joe Coffee Amsterdam

Another banger from Joe Coffee in NYC. Sticky sweet chocolate goodness that rolls a bit darker than most Joe blends, and I’m very ok with that. Also enjoyed breaking out the Chemex this morning for the first time in ages.

Coava Coffee Roasters S.O. Blend

This is an absolutely exceptional cup. Smooth, rich, and chocolatey. Digging the Vespa vibes on the packaging as well.
