Black Women you really need to listen.

This is a visual manifestation of everything you knew before. The only difference is that Black Men are openly admitting it.

There are many ways to dissect this. The first thing that jumps out is the metaphor. Terry is analogising the situation between him and Gabrielle by comparing it to a hog and chicken. It is symbolic of how Black Men view themselves as entirely separate entities from Black Women.

Black Men are not your “brothas” and you are not their “sistas”. They don’t even view you as part of the same species. This is a characterisation of why and how they pursue their own self-interest before (and to the detriment of) Black Women’s needs, dignity and advancement.

You gave them your egg yet they refuse to give you bacon. Now you’re hungry with nothing to show for it.

Other races of Men bring bacon home. In Black Men’s case, they don’t fulfil this duty.

To make matters worse, they leech off of Black Women by taking the little we have.

They don’t provide, protect or elevate Black Women.

Why aren’t Black Women guarding their own self interest? Why do you fight for men who have told loudly and consistently shown you that they don’t have your back? Why are you selflessly serving others to your own detriment?

I’ve never seen a demographic so willing to put themselves in situations which will undoubtedly lose them support. Or maybe that’s the point? These men are so used to your support that they don’t fear repercussions for spitting in your face because you’ll continue to support them
