oikawa calling iwaizumi within his first month of moving to argentina...he doesn’t want to admit that’s he’s lonely and homesick and struggling, because he chose this. he /wants/ to be here. but it’s also hard being away from everything and everyone you’ve known. & he misses iwa.

they chat about things for a little bit, about what they both have been up to. they haven’t had a chance to talk a lot, with the time zones and their busy schedules. but it’s just nice to hear each other’s voice. seemingly out of no where it makes oikawa emotional.

“hey? you ok? what’s wrong?” iwaizumi asks him.
“it’s nothing,” oikawa answers quickly, voice a little watery. “i’m happy here, really.”
“oikawa.”
“...”
“tooru?”
oikawa is trying so hard to get it together. he doesn’t want iwaizumi to worry or to think he can’t do this.

“i’m homesick,” oikawa says finally, voice cracking. it’s not enough to explain how he’s feeling, but he can’t find the words.
it’s quiet for a few moments & he’s worried the call disconnected.
“just say the word & i’ll come to argentina, seriously, i’ll buy a ticket right now.”

“what?” oikawa asks, shocked.
“yeah, i mean, it could be fun. i’ve always wanted to go to argentina.”
“no you haven’t!”
“ok, true. i never had a reason to go before, but now...”
oikawa is smiling ear to ear.
“what about practice? you’re on a team now too.”
“i can take a day off.”

“i can’t let you do that,” oikawa tells him, despite how badly he wants to be selfish and have iwaizumi board a plane right then. he’s already thinking of all the things they can do.
“don’t think this is just for you,” iwaizumi says. “you think you’re the only one homesick?”

“i don’t think it counts since you’re still in japan.”
“that’s not what i mean.”
fresh tears spring to oikawa’s eyes.
“i can’t believe how much i miss you,” he finally admits.
iwaizumi laughs, and oikawa thinks he’s crying too.
“that’s my line.”
“i miss you.”
“i miss you, too.”

it’s another couple of months but iwaizumi does finally make it out to argentina. it’s a long flight & he’s jet lagged by the time he gets there, but it’s worth it. it’s only for a few days but they make the most of it. oikawa shows him around & most moments they’re touching.
