WHY PRINXIETY ISN'T TOXIC: A THREAD
|| this entire thread will obviously be OOC, so I'm not using brackets for every tweet.

Also, everyone has the right to NOT ship Prinxiety, obv. This is purely based off of my opinion from watching the series, this isn't an attack on anyone.

Thanks! ♡
First off, personal stuff. I'm gonna start by saying that I didn't ship Prinxiety when I started shipping sides. It was the one ship I never connected to.

It wasn't until my BFF/main posted a Prinxiety edit on their Virgil and decided to try out writing Roman bc why not?
The more we wrote, the more we fell in love with the ship and characters and it made me realize that it's actually a really adorable ship. I also started seeing posts about how it's toxic and that's what I want to counter today.

Buckle up, bitches.
Virgil and Roman are the typical enemies to friends trope, and if you ship it, friends to lovers. I've watched through SS at least 8 times at this point (I binge it on my days off, sHUSH) and the more I watch it the more I see the growth of their relationship.
(Mind you, I'm 26 and married so I see a lot of these dynamics. Again, I'm not saying I'm 100% right, just my opinion based off of my personal life experiences and watching the series.)
When we first meet Virgil he's sardonic, snarky, moody, and negative. He insults Thomas and the other sides without a second thought and he clearly dislikes being around.

No one takes this to heart more than Roman. They're bound to hate each other.
Roman is the creative side; Virgil IS anxiety. The thing that blocks creativity more than anything is insecurity and being anxious over your work, the reception of it, etc. They're bound to butt heads.
They have their (very few) moments of getting along early on, but Roman is dead set on disliking him, almost to the point of it seeming like he's compensating for something. He tries too hard to be obvious about disliking Virgil and it shows.
One of my favorite moments is during the Valentine's Day episode when they're trying to get Virgil to say he loves them. Roman's fucking face-
It's not until AA that, IMO, he realizes that he cares for Virgil in a way he didn't realize.

Look at his face when Virgil talks about staying out. He's realizing just how much he's been undermining him and that's when he gives /that/ speech
Virgil's reaction bc oh my god, my baby

Roman's the only one who hasn't really tried to accept him at this point, and the utter sincerity in his words shows that he means it. Virgil can tell and oh boy-

Thatsloveladiesandgentleman
Anyway.

Virgil saves them all from going too far over to the dark side and Roman is utterly shocked that Virgil saved his life. Then Virgil reveals his name and (after the initial reactions) the way he says it for the first time, like it's precious and should be treasured-
This is the point where I think the feelings exist, and now that the animosity is gone it's bickering and banter between two people with a crush

Fitting In, for instance. After the purple hair is revealed it's ROMAN asking where Virgil is and cheering when he shows up.

(Uwu)
Roman makes a clear effort to not insult him and Virgil straight up points out that he noticed and appreciates it

And then, of course, the gayest scene in all of SS - the outfit changes

The gay panic is fucking real and there's no denying that

This keeps going as the episodes go on. The only real animosity that gets shown is in LNTAO, when Roman is frustrated and flustered and even then, Virgil just bickers with him.

During Incomplete they're the first to comfort each other during their respective parts, too.
Ngl, Incomplete makes me cry.

- Virgil: when you lo-CARE for someone, nothing hurts more than their scorn (camera goes to Roman)
Roman: come now...

- Virgil (to Roman): we embrace you; no one hates you.
If Roman wasn't a puppet, he'd have been holding back tears imo
Also, this look.
(I have to get ready for work I have more incoming bc we have a LOT of content to go through yet, but I hope you're enjoying my word v*mit so far!)
I'm back.

SO. Jumping back a bit to the Christmas special. First off, Roman's reaction to Virgil in the sweater.

(It's gay, folks)
They bicker like crazy in this episode, especially during the song but that's honestly understandable on Virgil's fault. I love Roman but... honey, that line.

Then one of the cutest Roman moments maybe ever (this one's for you, Lee)

"Idontlikeu"
The bickering is clearly non-aggressive, no hard feelings linger and Roman writes the cutest goddamn final line for him 🥺
Also gonna go to the Crofters special for a second.

It's almost solely Roman and Logan but when Virgil shows up at the end, he yells his name with a bright smile. It's amazing to see just how far they've come since "I don't like you" days.
Now, for my favorite episode of SS ever: Can Lying Be Good

Personal note: I'd die for this episode. I've watched it 15+ times, it's just everything. Protective Virgil, Joan!Roman, Deceit!Patton, the Dee reveal. A perfect episode.

Plus Virgil in that black shirt 🥵🥵
(The thirst for Virgil in this episode especially is real, but not the point)

It jumps in to them immediately bickering like a married couple, going back and forth the entire beginning. Plus we get this moment, which is fucking hilarious 😂
Anyway, skipping to the theater section

Roman puts on mini-shows, egged on by Deceit. He has the other three help, and through they all do begrudgingly, it's especially telling to see Virgil actually working hard to help Roman, even panicking a bit when he can't find the cup
He even goes as far as to jeer and comment as the performance goes, and though it's clear he doesn't want to be there, he's actively supporting Roman
Gonna take one more tweet to appreciate my favorite Virgil moment in the entirety of Sanders Sides bc sksjsksj ungghhj he's so hot
Gonna rewatch SvS so I can collect the moments I want. I'm still planning to cover Moving On Pt 1&2 as well.
