BTS - Spine Breaker > about consumerism. criticizes students/children these days constantly begging their parents for expensive items, making their parents work extremely hard so that they can keep up with the latest trends. there is also class conflict.
BTS - Pied Piper > bts know that sometimes fans focus are entirely on the artist but rather than taking advantage of it, bts push their fans to study for tests and focus on other things other than them.
BTS - Paradise > suga said “the world never teaches you how to dream but always promotes competition.” this song comforts you and tell you that it’s okay not to have a dream.
BTS - Black Swan > people say “just do your thang” but what exactly IS my thang? bts also address their fear for losing their passion for their love for music. its like death and it’s agonizing.
BTS - Baepsae > talks about the pressure placed on the younger generation and the class divide. it criticizes the korean society and its hierarchy. the older generation tell the youth to ‘try harder’ but they don’t want to change the system.
BTS - N.O > talks about how students are puppets and have been made into studying machines and adults see nothing past studying. bts reinforces the idea of ‘you be you’ and do what you want rather than focusing on other people’s dreams.
BTS (Jin) - Epiphany > self love. the most important thing is to love yourself before loving someone else. you have many flaws but that should not stop you from loving yourself.
BTS - Hip Hop Phile/Lover > bts goes in depth about who they were inspired and influenced by. what made their love for hip hop come about? they name their role models in this song.
BTS - 21st Century Girls > telling women that they’re worth it and they’re enough. they have the power to say yes or no. to not be discouraged by what the world tells them and that they shine no matter what.
BTS - GoGo > the young generation are living their lives with low expectations. they are hopeless and and so live by ‘YOLO’ and squander their money. there is also a lot of economic hardship.
BTS - Tomorrow > it’s a motivational song, telling people not to give up, to keep moving forward with life. it’s a message that the youth need because at this stage, you might be lost and want to give up.
BTS (SUGA aka. AGUST D) - The Last > he opens up about his struggles with this song. he’s telling a story. he shows us in detail what he went through to get to where he is now.
BTS - Sea > the struggle and hardships they went through to achieve their dreams. they started from the complete bottom. but they had an inkling of hope that things would be different.
BTS (RM) - UhGood > he touches upon the feeling of self loathing and the difference between how you want to be and how you are. but there’s hope, and self loathing can turn into self love if you just accept and don’t give up on yourself.
BTS - Dope > fighting for the youth and telling them not to give up so easily. walk through life with your head held high. you gotta make it.
BTS - Answer: Love Myself > talking about self love. it’s hard to love someone else when you don’t even love yourself. don’t be too hard on yourself. And now we’re slowly learning how to love ourselves.
BTS - Lost > everyone feels lost and confused at one point in their life. having no where to go in this big world but desperately wanting to find our own path. but you should believe in yourself to find your own path, the one that is right for you.
BTS - Am I Wrong > bts are calling out the dirty politicians and discrimination and the questioning why they are being silenced.
BTS - Ma City > they talk about their hometowns in this song. they are proud of where they come from, their roots, and they want to invite you to come visit too.
BTS - No More Dream > a lot of emphasis on ones own dream. a lot of the times, dreams are reinforced by adults and parents, but a dream is supposed to be YOURS. your OWN. the youth should stand up and speak for what they want to do rather than what others want them to do.
BTS - Whalien 52 > in reference to the 52hz whale considered to be the loneliest whale. it is combined with the word ‘alien’ which could mean alienation. the song brings light to the feeling of alienation and loneliness which is a very common feeling. it’s heart-wrenching.
BTS - Airplane Pt. 2 > (my take) as a celebrity it’s easy to sit back and relax, get money from media coverage and such. bts address how people should continue to follow their passion and work hard no matter what position you are at. be yourself.
BTS - Anpanman > a superhero that helps other people feel better but becomes weak himself. bts say that although they aren’t superheroes, they can be your anpanman. they will be your heros even if they get hurt. they will fight with you and for you. they want you to call for them
BTS (RM) - Intro: Persona > the importance of self growth. you learn from your mistakes everyday. you grow everyday. work towards bettering yourself.
BTS - 2! 3! > this song is a motivational song for ARMY. bts talk about their own personal struggles and talk about how they can’t change the past and lie to us that everything is going to be okay. they hope for better days in the future.
BTS - Spring Day > this song has so many meanings. it refers to the feeling of loneliness, loss of a friend. one of the most popular explanations is that it is a reference to the Sewol ferry tragedy in which friends lost their lives. this song tells them, “don’t forget”
BTS - 134340 > focus on heartbreak and longing. the reference is Pluto, a used-to-be planet. the lyrics talk about how someone’s loved one no longer reciprocates their love just like how Pluto is no longer a planet. the feeling of loneliness is transparent.
BTS - Can You Turn Off Your Phone? > how the virtual world is fake. how we constantly seek validation from people on the internet. we should put it away for a while and focus on the real world.
BTS (RM) - everythingoes > everyone feels pain in their lives but that pain passes, hence the repetition of everything goes in the song. we should learn how to embrace our struggles and accept it. live life to the fullest because your time here on this earth is limited.
