Every time you have a birthday, a different planet and house in your natal chart becomes activated. This predicts how that year will play out for you.

➫ WHAT IS AN ANNUAL PROFECTION?
Every year you have a birthday, the house (and planet ruling over that house) shifts, making a new theme or "Time Lord/Lord of the Year" activated.

➫ WHAT IS A "TIME LORD/LORD OF THE YEAR"?
A fancy way to refer to the planet currently activated in your chart.

➫ SO WHERE DO I START?

When you have your natal wheel laid out in front of you, I want you to take notice of the bold line that has "AS" and "DC" on either side of it. (I've highlighted it in purple). Now find your sun (mine is circled at the bottom).

If your sun is ABOVE that long line I've circled, you have a DAY chart. If it is BELOW that line (like my sun circled in the photo) you have a NIGHT chart.

➫ WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
To put it simply, it just means you were born during either the day or night.

➫ WHY DO I NEED TO KNOW THIS?
There are things with Annual Profections called BENEFIC and MALEFIC years. To keep things simple, a benefic year can be viewed as an extremely "lucky" or good year. Where Malefic years can be seen as "tense" or harder for most people.

If you have a DAY chart, your BENEFIC is Jupiter + your MALEFIC is Mars. Jupiter years often highlight money, expansion, and travel. People might feel like things are naturally just working out for them easier than usual. Mars years pack a punch but encourage us to do better.

If you have a NIGHT chart, your BENEFIC is Venus + your MALEFIC is Saturn. Venus years put more emphasis on how we value ourselves, how we treat or invest in things and people around us. Saturn years force us to reexamine how we are doing things and is the reality check we need.

➫ HOW DO I FIND WHAT ANNUAL PROFECTION YEAR I AM IN, CURRENTLY?

@chrisbrennan7 who wrote the book on this topic, and offers classes about this made a wheel that can be used to discern this.

Here you can: A) Find what age you are and then B) see what house is active per age.

For example, I'm twenty-five, so by looking at this wheel, it is clear that twenty-five-year-olds have a second house profection year activated in their chart.

Every twelve years we go through our entire natal chart.

Things to keep in mind:

Traditional rulerships are used when discerning what planet is activated in your chart.

So say you have Pisces in your first house, and you're in a first house year. Neptune is not the lord of that year for you, It will be Jupiter.

IF ___ SIGN IS IN THE HOUSE ACTIVATED IN YOUR ANNUAL PROFECTION YEAR, ___ IS THE PLANET ACTIVATED IN YOUR CHART.

Aries + Scorpio: Mars
Taurus + Libra: Venus
Gemini + Virgo: Mercury
Cancer: Moon
Leo: Sun
Sagittarius + Pisces: Jupiter
Aquarius + Capricorn: Saturn
