Interesting article on the ways lack of oxygen to the brain (here caused by sleep apnea) damages the brain. #pplwME #MECFS shown to hypoxia via poor brain blood flow. I wonder if getting more air via a CPAP could amerliorate some damage from hypoperfusion? https://www.sleepresolutions.com/blog/does-sleep-apnea-cause-brain-damage">https://www.sleepresolutions.com/blog/does...
How CPAPs can heal brain damage from hypoxia:
“It was indicated that repair and restoration of white matter in the brain takes up to a year with CPAP therapy but gray matter responds more quickly, taking only three months of CPAP therapy to regain normal functioning.”

I’ve personally found that using a CPAP during the day on blast, and more recently in combo with an oxygen tank, help stop my ME flares from getting worse. I’m going to try sleeping w a CPAP to see if getting constant air to helps.
My TTT showed reduced cerebral blood flow.

@nerdymedzebra would love to hear your thoughts.
@JanetDafoe Do you know if #pplwME have found CPAP machines helpful?

Interesting addition: hypoxia (in this study from sleep apnea) can damage the brain blood barrier, which filters out bacteria and chemicals from entering the brain.
I wonder if this could be related to the severe MCS some #pplwME have, like me? http://newsroom.ucla.edu/releases/ucla-researchers-provide-first-evidence-of-how-obstructive-sleep-apnea-damages-the-brain">https://newsroom.ucla.edu/releases/...

Coming back to this thread, months later. Sleep apnea is often seen in MCAS, EDS, and MECFS. Additionally, I think the reason it helps me during the day is bc CPAPs raise intracranial pressure, and based on symptoms, I suspect I may often have low intracranial pressure.
