If this becomes ubiquitous I will be wearing some kind of veil or mask to cover my face. This is a breech of privacy and would definitely target marginalized people and probably cause a rise in racial profiling and (unlawful) imprisonment. https://www.cnet.com/news/clearview-app-lets-strangers-find-your-name-info-with-snap-of-a-photo-report-says/?TheTime=2020-01-19T16%3A43%3A33&PostType=link&UniqueID=D501249A-3ADA-11EA-AC1F-E7DAC28169F1&ServiceType=facebook_page&ftag=COS-05-10aaa0a
We are already well on our way down the path of a culture of surveillance. Searching for random strangers has been normalized. People list their jobs, birthdays, age, likes and dislikes... others have normalized cyber stalking using the excuse that "it's public."
This is why I barely care if facial recognition tech recognizes my black ass. While other people were outraged and offering themselves up, I'm avoidant. With the legislation around erotic labor thickening, and doxxing becoming a common weapon, what's next?
It's wild to me how any mention of veiling brings mentions of a certain religion or Arabic words into my replies, even though I never mentioned this religion in relation to this issue. It seems benign but it's also indicative of the effectiveness of propaganda.

Some other ways to thwart this technology. I favor the CV makeup for summertime and I'll be looking for ways to cover my child's face as well. I know some of y'all might think that's excessive and... I don't care. Do you. https://www.businessinsider.com/clothes-accessories-that-outsmart-facial-recognition-tech-2019-10
