Thread: I'm gonna go out on a limb and say I think there's a decent chance the Tigers take a high school OF with their second pick of the 2020 draft
The 2020 class is rich in toolsy prep OF. Avila has tended to contrast the risk value of his top two picks. Take a look:

Manning - Funkhouser
Faedo - Rivera
Mize - Meadows
Greene - Quintana
There's not really a pattern to which side of the pairing is the riskier pick, but it seems obvious to me that he likes to balance his top selections. Avila generally follows predictable patterns, and while this isn't one that gets talked about, maybe it should be.
He seems to be attracted to the high risk/reward OF type when taking prep guys with high picks. He presided over the selection of Meadows, Liniak, Greene, a whole slew of speedy mid-round JuCo outfielders with good college stats, and I have to imagine he had some hand Derek Hill
There are a bunch of guys who could fit the bill around the range of his second (38th overall) and third (63rd overall) picks and there shouldn't be a problem giving out fat bonuses for the guys picked there.
He also has a fantastic opportunity to stop player who was seen as a first-round talent from falling too far because he'll have plenty of bonus money and will almost absolutely have some left over from the 1-1 slot. (Guys drafted 1-1 almost never get full slot value)
At this point, it's just informed speculation, but if you're a Tigers fan, keep an eye on that group.
