When you're competing with other freelancers on Fiverr or Upwork, wins who draws more attention.

Shit, there are dozens, even hundreds of people offering the same service. At least have something different from the "Hi, my name is...."
If you use Fiverr, use the thumbnails in your favor.

There are dozens of thumbnails, side by side. Don't be afraid to use vibrant colors, or to put your face on the thumbnail.

Try a different thumbnail each 1-2 weeks, and see which one get the most clicks.
If you use Upwork, don't write poor, generic proposals.

If the prospect is thinking about making a website, for example, understand his problem and make him feel understood.

Give a compliment, "Hey Mr. Prospect, that's a nice idea of yours, putting X in your website".
Give suggestions too, "Have you thought about using Y? It would improve your website ......"

This shows attention to details and dedication even before getting the job.

There are people out there literally copying and pasting the same proposals.

This is your competition.
Specially if you are a beginner in those sites, following these tips would get you ahead of 90% of your competition.

Details, people... the devil is in that shit.
