My frustration from this morning regarding the Bolden house stemmed from something I said to a friend via text earlier.

Since I’ve moved here we’ve lost countless culture bearers in New Orleans. People who made this city great with their music their food and their talents.
Not only that we’ve gotten lip service from ppl who say that they care about New Orleans. That they care about our culture but do nothing. Example the Eagle Saloon which was supposed to open two years ago. As well as the Dew Drop Inn. And it’s not just developers.
It’s some natives as well.

Look I’m not from here. But this is my home and I will fight to defend this city as if I grew up on Washington & Freret in the 3rd Ward went to Ben Franklin and then to Tulane. We have lost way too many Jazz landmarks in the name of progress.
If these jazz landmarks keep disappearing then what will future New Orleanians know about our culture? Google isn’t always the source. The more you let history disappear the more you forget your roots. You forget who you are.
Until I saw those signs in the neutral ground on Simon Bolivar I didn’t know who Buddy Bolden was. When I found out thanks to ppl like @m_tisserand I got involved. Especially because of my residency in Central City.
So yeah, I’m going to be fired up about that house. Because I’m tired of lip service. Don’t give me excuses give me action. And best believe me PJ Morton I’m gonna hold you to your word. I’m going to check that house weekly for work. And I’m not afraid to call you out.
